Don't forget that Nordstrom alterations can hem your leggings. I would be concerned that the smaller size would eventually show strain and stretchy fiber breakage as well as more prone to show VPL. My bias is to size up, however, and I have made many mistakes that way. I would wear each for a number of hours to see if your answer emerges.

These moto pants are being delivered to me today. But at their ridiculous price they are going back unless they look friggin amazing on me. With my new moto boots I wanted to see how moto pants looked with them. Plus, EF doing moto pants?!?!!!

I'd say it's up to personal preference. I personally would size up simply because anything tight causes horrible pain in my legs. The last time that happened, when I was in the hospital, they put some tight compression socks on me before surgery. The pain was so bad that they had to give me morphine.

I never want to have to exercise just to get my clothes on. Leggings that I have to keep bending over to pull up (like pantyhose) don't make the cut for me. If the larger size stayed up even after being worn for a long time, that's the ones I'd keep. (I also don't like clothes that I have to exercise to keep on. But I have COPD, which means I have to think about how I'm going to ration my energy every day, so there's that)

It really is going to be a matter of personal preference for you. Which ones do you feel most comfortable with? Physically and emotionally, which ones feel more right?

Wouldn't scrunched up leggings be hard to fit in your boots?

Too tight and too loose could both be binding and fall down--tight is obviously binding, but when there's extra fabric, it can get twisted around in awkward ways. Fallling down sounds like a "loose" problem, but if there's barely enough fabric, it's hard to keep in place

TL/DR: your choice. If neither fits you well, maybe you should look for a different pair.

It is probably a personal preference. I don't like to feel like a sausage and size up to get more of a slim pants look. Definitely don't want muffin top.

I think it would depend on which fit you are more comfortable in. Personally, for me, I don't like when my leggings are too tight because then I would just be uncomfortable and miserable the whole time I am in them.

I don't think either is right or wrong really, it is a preference.

For me leggings need to stay up - I dislike ones I have to readjust during the day because of slippage. For shorter leggings I also have to make sure they do not dig in to my bigger calves - that can hurt!!

Aside from that as long as they are not so tight as to be indecent or uncomfortable, or so loose as to be very saggy, anything goes.

This is probably a really stupid question. I've never questioned it before, but I ordered the VC Moto Leggings from NAS. The info says they run big and to order a size down. I ordered my regular size and a size down, and now I don't know which is better.

The larger size goes on without any effort, but it does have a little extra fabric in the crotch and it bags slightly at the knees. Not a lot - if they were regular pants, I would see the fit as totally normal. They are also a tad long and bunch slightly at the ankle, but that doesn't matter since they will be worn mostly with boots. The waist is high enough that they don't seem to fall down at all, and of course I would wear tops to cover the crotch anyway, so I don't know how important the fit there is.

The smaller size I need to pull on and then pull up some more on the legs; they are definitely more form-fitting. The waist is tighter and almost feels too small going over my hips, but feels fine at the waist once on. They don't bag behind the knee, but do have some gathering there (snug). The nature of the fabric is thick enough that they don't get sheer when I bend, so I cannot use that as a gauge.

Anyway, I am just looking for some pointers on how leggings/pants like this should fit. Should this particular style fit like leggings or like slim pants? Would it be better for them to be slightly tight or slightly loose? DD (13) thinks the larger pair looks better, but then again, she tries to wear everything too big. Her idea of jeans that fit are jeans that she doesn't need to unbutton to get on and off!
