I am not being able to say anything in this regards. I just try the shoes, if its fit I buy it otherwise not. Toe box in shoes varies and I am less concerned with it. So fit is important. Yes feet tend to slide a little forward in heels so a roomy toe box is necessary for comfort.

Get a them stretched by a 'boot maker' or whatever you guys call them. I had a pair of boots and because one foot is larger than the other, it was a bit to snug on my big toe. Avoid getting arthritis in your big toe and go and have them professionally stretched, you will be pleased you did!

Not a silly question. I find that, for me, the higher the heel, the tighter they have to fit, or else my heel slips out when I walk. This is especially true for strapless pumps. I only own one pair of these and they are *very* snug. Those shoes you've got there are not very high (I have similar ones, the Malibrans, from that shoe family) and they've got lots of straps, so slippage shouldn't be a problem. Because of the wide toe box, your toes will have lots of room. They probably shouldn't touch the inside front of the shoe, though, as that means they are too short. Good leather shoes will stretch a little width-wise, but not at all lengthwise -- so if they're too short, they're going to stay too short.

If you find your foot slides down a bit, you can get a small cushion to put under the ball of your foot that will prevent this. I've never tried foot petals, but it's the same idea. Having said that, I've never had problems with my feet sliding down in my shoes like those ones.

By the way, awesome shoes!

I wear heels near-daily. I like my heels to look like they fit snug (little to no gap at the back), but with enough room in the toe box that when standing they feel comfortably "at rest" (hard to do with a wider toe box, narrow heel, and desire for thin tipped shoes like me -_-). I had been ignoring the wider toe box requirement until fairly recently, and the couple I've purchased with my current fit requirements in mind feel much more comfortable, though I can still wear most of my older heels just fine. I don't like the tops of my toes hitting the shoe much (long toes here, lightly touching is fine), but having the sides touch is fine for me.

Mo - the blisters are usually from friction caused by your feet moving around in the shoe. If the pads keep your feet from moving, they'll hopefully prevent the blisters.

I like my heels to fit snugly, but use the ball of foot pads Mo suggests when called for to prevent slippage. I think the only way to know for sure if the shoes will work for you is to walk around with them. If the return policy is amenable, I would buy them and do laps around your house to see if they work for you.

I use the foot petals in most of my heels for precisely the reason that I can't stand it when my foot slides forward and my toes get squashed. I also have ridiculously "straight" heels (no real indent for the back of a shoe to grip) so always add a heel grip so they don't slide off. These two additions make pretty much all of my heels comfy.

Hiya, dissertante. I own those very shoes, and in general am heel-averse, so wanted to just let you know that these shoes are for me at least extremely comfy. I didn't feel like I was sliding forward in them. (Just so you know, I've only worn them a few times yet, but I think they're not going to surprise me at this point.) I think these would be an excellent choice! Also, if you want to gently try them out indoors, Fluevog will give you up to two weeks to see if you like them.

Comfortably!

Yes, your toes will slide forward a bit, but they should not be too cramped and the shoe should not slip off your heel when you walk. Leather will stretch and conform to your foot's shape, so stick with that and avoid fabric or synthetics. I add gel insoles etc. for extra padding if I need it, but most of my heels do not have any extras.

Good luck with your new purchase!

I feel very uncomfortable if my toes touch the shoe, I wouldn't count on the leather stretching.

A silly question, but with running they say to leave 1/2-1" in the toe box; this obviously doesn't work with heels. How much toe room do you have? And if a toe touches the end of the shoe when you put weight on your foot (but not when you stand), would you size up and get a gel strip for the heel? Or would the leather stretch? I'm afraid that if I size up the shoes will be too long.

Heel-wearers, I need your wisdom and expertise in this department.

Never been a heel wearer due to severe hereditary bunions, but for these John Fluevog's that I caught on sale, I might make an exception. Thanks to the YLFer who brought his name to my attention! They seemed to fit perfectly when I tried them on, but I'm worry about toe-bumping...but then, don't toes always slide to the end in heels, or is my physics off?
