Deborah, this one fits like yours in the second picture but with more front coverage. Thanks for all the help!

Una, I really like the sleeveless blazer. I'm adding pic of how mine fits as it's a little similar. Mine doesn't have a fastening either and mine wouldn't close if it did. I think it depends on what look you want. I like the tailored yet draped effect of these jackets. I think we might need to see it on:)

I have this on my Wish List in both PXS and PS and was wondering how it fits. I have narrowish shoulders and usually size up but order both sizes anyway and sometimes an XS as well since the width usually falls in-between but is longer in length. For something that would always have at least one layer underneath, I prefer to err on the larger side, but confess I have at least one blazer that looks big in back.

I run cold so I am a buttoner. At least on my body, I have found that if a jacket will button, I often get slight wrinkling by the shoulders and it won't hang as well while unbuttoned. The smaller size may hang better unbuttoned (but have a whole raft of other sizing issues). I am in the try multi sizes category.

YOU KNOW TRIPLE POINTS DAYS START ON WEDNESDAY, RIGHT?

Well, I guess a pic of the road while you are cursing is better than a tape recording of you while you are cursing. :^) Sorry about the snow. That's crummy! Grr.

I think pics would be helpful to post. I do think Diana's pictures were helpful. Her first picture showed a vest that was almost distracting in its lack of coverage, while the proper-fitting vest had more of a vertically lengthening effect.

tuxedo lapels often fit kind of waiter-jackety. I think the important point is how it looks/drapes from a side view.

look at this one from the front view. Doesn't really cover at the bosom but does look like it would fit at the upper hips.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ei.....igin=relat

Rae, it's actually fairly structured - like a Theory jacket or a gabardine weight. I guess I'll have to take pics! I had to be at work at 6 a.m. this morning (still here) and we got over 2 feet of snow that hadn't been plowed when I drove in... I got stuck and had to shovel out. Will post a picture of my road that I took while sitting in my car cursing!

I LOVE vests and sleeveless jackets and I have a few - so that makes me an expert, right ? LOL

I think it depends on what you like. I like mine to button, especially my lightweight summer ones because sometimes I like to wear them over a second base demi tank or under a sweater. But, I think that a jacket doesn't have to close if you never plan to wear it closed. So this leads to how you want to wear it. I like mine a little looser on the bottom. If it is more for winter I like the arm holes looser so that I can wear something a bit thicker underneath, same for a button down. It i plan on just doing t shirts or tops with low volume sleeves, I have the arm holes taken in .

I agree with Rae, this is more of a drapery accessory than a real jacket.

if this is the best I'm thinking of then I think it should fit more on the loose side. the silkier fabrication isn't meant for a tailored fit I don't think.

None of my vests or jackets close. And I buy the size that fits me best on my shoulders and arms. Over my wide mid section I don't really care whether it buttons or not! But I live in a warmer climate, so may be that might be a factor you would want to consider.

Hmm, I think the current trend is for a looser, more covered fit. Angie thinks my vest here doesn't have enough front coverage. (I was skinnier when I bought it years ago, plus the trend then was for smaller front panels.)

http://diana.lookfab.com/post/.....-a-bit-off

Eta: I don't think it actually has to close, more like the fronts have to hang straighter or something. I think my newer floral vest is a more modern fit:

I ordered one from Nordstrom and I really like it, but I'm wondering if I should size up... There is no button or fastening to close it, but if there were I would not be able to fasten it. Does a vest or jacket have to look like it would close, even if it's not meant to?

Sorry no pics at the moment, but here's the one I got, in S petite.
