I'm 22, so I'm probably on the younger end here. I'm still finishing up college. I am a senior this year, but won't graduate until December. I do so enjoy reading all of the wisdom you ladies share.

Nicole, I completely understand!!!! It took several times before I wasn't completely sore from head to toe...but you know what, I have awesome calves- at least during the season. It's an awesome workout! Good for you for fighting! You'll do great. And don't worry...even the seasoned ones fall down...just this year I did a huge face plant in front of tons of people. (I fell so hard it broke one of the zippers on my coat!) Just have fun!

Ohhhh Nicole! This brings back bitter sweet memories. I felt exactly the same way when we snowboarded for the first time and we fell extremely hard ALL day. I too was sore the next day and for days thereafter. Bravo for not giving up. The snowboarding learning curve is steep, but I am sure that you will get there. Wear all the protection. I’d have ended up in hospital if I didn’t.

Oh my gosh! Don't know if I am looking forward to this skiing/snowboarding thing. I am going for the first time next month at the age of 37! I am in shape, but I know this is going to kick my butt. Sorry to hear you fell hard, but glad to hear it's not discouraging you. Where are you going? We are going to Winter Park. I don't even like the snow so this is going to be very challenging all around. I am so afraid I'm going to break something, which I have never done in my life and don't want to now. Good luck!

I had my first snowboarding lesson last night--hoping to get a little riding under my belt before our big winter vacation. I am a broken women today, young or old. Nothing like being completely unable to do what everyone around you seems to be doing with ease! I fell hard on one of my first runs downhill and now I can't sit, walk, stand, or breathe without pain.

But I'm not going down w/out a fight. I'm getting back out there and I WILL figure this out. To me, that is being young (maybe not smart, but young).

I'm the oldest, 45, and feeling vaguely guilty because I entered a post mentioning that I was over 40 and maybe that's why the troll thought everyone here was old. or maybe troll is 16 and thinks everyone over 20 is old? anyway, I really like the style info here - guess I'm a late bloomer but I'm just now figuring out how much fun clothes can be and how much they can add to my life.

Let me be the first to say "Happy Birthday Marianna." My husband will turn 40 in September and it is bothering him a lot. I have a couple more years, but I am not concerned about it. I too feel great! I am more healthy than I was in my 20's when I was drinking too much, out too late and eating terrible fast food. I am more active now. With the kids, weight training, kick boxing, tennis and whatever else comes my way I stay busy. Kids wear me out mentally, but keep me going physically.

Hi girls,

I have been reading but not posting...please forgive me, but sometimes life gets in the way. Anyway, I love this thread. All last year I struggled with the fact that I was turning 40. Now that it's happened (yesterday as a matter of fact)I realize that I feel the best I have ever felt. I look in the mirror and see a wiser, more confident woman. Granted my body is not the same as it was while I was in my 20's. But I feel like I am in better shape physically than I have ever been. I even feel sexier than I have ever felt. Yesterday I said hello to 40 and today I say bring it on. I am 40 and fabulous.

My personal style has improved with age as well. I have more confidence in what I wear and how I wear it. I know what suits my body, and I wear it well.

I'm 31 with two young children and I will be celebrating my 10th anniversary this year. Every time a birthday rolls around, my husband starts complaining about getting old and I always tell him I don't know what he's talking about. I definitely don't feel old and technically, I'm older than he is.

I read the comment by the "troller" also and initially was a bit taken aback, but opted to refrain from comment (which, if you knew me, you would know is difficult).

I've always felt that this site was for a woman not necessarily mature in age, but in taste...a woman who's stylish, fashion forward, confident and comfortable in her own skin, no matter her age. And I enjoy reading the posts from my fellow fashionistas.

I am actually 28. I work full time for a Fortune 500 company and also attend school part time (for my bachelor's), but often when I am approached most men (or "college boys") on average presume that I am 23 and I am carded more often now than I was before I turned 21....go figure.

Indeed. The illustration on the site of the pale skinned , blonde haired figure on the left with specs, pearls and a fuchsia jacket is me and for those of you who know what I look like, you’ll keep me honest when I say that it’s quite an accurate depiction. The illustration changes from time to time because I keep on chopping off my hair. I use to have the exact hairstyle that’s in the current illustration about 3 months ago Shannon. It was layered and choppy all over and really short at the back. But it’s much shorter and pixie like at the moment because I felt like showing my ears again.

If the puppies in the illustration are your babies then the woman must be you. Is that a pretty good depiction of what you look like? If so I LOVE your hair. Everytime I see it I want a similar cut. My hair is a shorter version that I have been trying to grow out. Assuming it is, or used to be, what your hair looks like, is it all one length?

I'm 28--I've been married for 3 years (together for 7), and we have one cat, Pantani, aged 12 (though, I suppose, she's technically my husband's step-cat, since she pre-dates him by several years). Off topic, but interesting, Husband and I started dating on Feb. 26th (First date), then married on another Feb. 26th, which, unrelatedly, also happens to be my cat's birthday.

I live in a college town, which makes you feel much older than you are. Every year, a new group of 17 and 18 year olds comes in, but they keep looking younger and younger. I am told I look young for my age, but I often don't get 'carded' any more when I buy alcohol (due to the large number of real young people here). That makes me feel older than I know I am or know I look.

My mom is 46 and still runs several marathons a year. She looks like she is in her early-thirties. I think that bodes well for me, eh? But this year comes 29, and next, the BIG 3-0. I'm scared about that--nervous to leave the comfort of my twenties, the only decade of my life the whole of which I actually remember. As I creep closer to 30, however, I notice that my self-criticism decreases and my comfort level with myself increases. I'm less self-conscious and more confident. That's very nice. That which I used to spend hours hating and being depressed about no longer phases me.

I am also 23, but turn 24 in March. I used to panic about how precious little time I have left with my 20's, but I can hardly differentiate between myself and other women in their 30's and 40's, so I no longer feel pressured to become an old lady...or maybe I am an old lady already :). I think I had some idea in my head about what 30-40 year old women were like, and obviously I was wrong. I've met women in their 30's who I really thought were close to my age.

I remember hearing Stacy London talking about how her 30's have been a pleasure because she knows what she loves and who she loves and I am sure the same will be true for me. I think it was on some silly TLC promo...but it inspired me nonetheless!

I wasn't sure if I should point out the troll or not, so I kept my mouth shut until this thread started. Angie, I'm glad you didn't mind what I said. I was so relieved when no one took the troll bait.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who forgets how old I am. As I've mentioned before, my mom will be 79 in Feb. and she honestly looks and acts like a youthful 60 year old woman. She eats well, walks with my dad every single day, and really cares about her appearance. I work with a woman who is 51, but up until a year ago, I thought she was in her early 40's. She takes care of her body, eats very heathfully, and dresses very nice. Nothing extravagant, but just classic and she knows what works on her figure.

Then again, I work with a girl who is a few years younger than me, she takes horrible care of herslef and dresses trashy. I've always wanted to nominate her for What Not to Wear...they could shave at least 10 years off her.

Thanks for bringing that out into the open Nicole and I have no doubt that the person who commented about age was "trolling". The comment made me chuckle profusely ...(which creased my laughter lines even more but c’est la vie!)I hope that no one was offended? I was greatly amused!

It’s reassuring to know that we are ALL on the same page about how we feel about our age and bodies. There are plenty of ladies in their 40’s and 50’s who comment on this site regularly and I know that they feel just as young as us.

For the record....I suspect the person who called us old was trolling. (Trolling is when someone goes to message boards and says things to try to provoke a fight.) The best way to handle a troll's comment's is to ignore them. Don't feed the trolls. When I read that "old" comment, I checked the person's membership and she was a member for like 3 minutes when she posted.

Now to answer your question...Seems like I may be the eldest in the group. I just turned 39. I also have 2 kids...Mia 11, and Lowell 8. And I'm really enjoying this wonderful group of lovely YOUNG women!

I am 33 and I certainly don't consider myself old. I have a healthy body, so I feel good physically. I still have a passion to learn and experience new things, so I still feel young mentally. I firmly believe you are as old as your attitude! My grandmother will be celebrating her 100th birthday in a couple of weeks, and she is still very much living life, not just waiting to die. As the saying goes, "40 is the new 20," so I must be just getting started!

I'm also 37 and have been married for 11 years. I too get mixed up about my age. I love getting older and enjoy each year that I am wiser and more comfortable within my own skin. I could do without the serious laughter lines that are developing on my face but that means that I laugh a lot, which I do, and this another thing to be grateful for. And these days women in their 40’s have never looked better so bring on the age 40 and lets celebrate looking and feeling our very best.

I am 37 and I am always forgetting how old I am when people ask me. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old and I can't believe I am pushing 40! I take care of myself and play tennis, lift weights so I don't feel anywhere near my true age, which is not old at all by the way. When I look in the mirror I still like to think I am in my late 20's. Problem is, I sometimes still want to dress that way.
