Then you can sort out the workable location of the trip . I have seen many wedding registries here focus on specific trip related items guests can contribute to. The contributions all go in the same pot, yet the sites, rather than stating the entire honeymoon cost as a goal, have special meals, tours, boat rides, guides, airfare, massage, etc. noted. It is possible for multiple guests to contribute to the same category or for one guest to fund all of a category. Folks can choose what appeals to them and it avoids the need to communicate the total cost. It does seem to require that some details be in place. Of course, sites used and expectations can vary by region, so this format may not be what works best for your wedding. With Covid potentially impacting destination options, plus the possibility for some of the honeymoon not coming immediately after a wedding, this approach could require that too much be known in advance. It’s an exciting time, with so many details. The weekend spent in Penang (the city) was decidedly more expensive, though... </p> <p>So it really *does* depend on where you go &amp; what you plan to do whilst there - our total expenses in Malaysia came to ~$2500 USD (19000 Hong Kong dollars), with about half of that going to hotel costs. We haven't decided where we are going, so it will just be an estimate, but I'm not sure what we should make the goal. How much would you budget for a week long tropical vacation for two (or something similarly relaxing)? I've never taken that type of vacation, so I really don't know. </p>
