qpswan, Rae, and Susie - thanks for weighing in.

qpswan - I am a pants kind of person, although I have recently branched into skirts/ dresses and tights for fall and winter; my workplace is very casual and jeans are de rigeur. So, having too many casual pants is not a problem -- and is in fact desirable -- as they also double as work pants.

Rae - exactly! The cords just feel more dressy to me, perhaps it's because of their velvety texture. I do work in a quasi academic institution where people (me included) often dress like skateboard punks, so it could be because of that.

Susie - Yes! That's one of the reasons why I think the pants are way more flattering on me :). I'll post some WiWs when I get home (traveling now) at the end of the week, so you can be the best judge of that.

I don't think it's too many because you can wear caramel with different color tops than you would wear with the charcoal.

I hope yours are longer than the ones on the model!

Three seems reasonable to me, as they are all serving different purposes in outfits. I know Angie says that cords are more casual than jeans, however where I worked the management felt the same as you, thinking that cords are more dressy. I think they have sort of an academic association that makes them feel dressier to me, personally.

I don't think that this is a matter of too many pairs of cords but rather too many pairs of casual pants. If you need/want another pair of casual pants then keep the two pairs.

I don't think that there is a cap on the number of cordoroys one can owe. I love the fall feeling of cords...

Doesn't sound like too many to me. I have three pair of mini cords, two in grey (because I loved them enough to want a backup pair) and one in camel because I also wanted variety. I wear them a lot in fall/winter.

RunnerChick, I have a crazy life where I live for a while in sweaty hot FL and then in Tahoe (where our actual home is). So the short answer is that I wear my cords in Tahoe. As you well know, it can be winter there for more than 6 months of the year. I should add, I wear a uniform for work so the cords are worn on my own time.

Thanks, Mo and Sylvie.

Thanks for weighing in, Mo and Sylvie!

Mo - my cords are all the same style. I'm mostly a (mini) bootcut kinda gal, but the fit of the Kuts are such that they would make me bold enough to try tucking in my shirt. What seasons do you wear your cords during?

Sylvie - I see what you (and Angie) mean about cords being less dressy than dark wash jeans. But the jeans I own are faded and IMO a little too casual for work. The cords, by virtue of their unusual colors and smooth finish are the more dressy option in my wardrobe....

I don't think 3 pairs of cords is too many.

The variety in color imho counts as variety in bottoms.

According to Angie, cords are *not* dressier than jeans. I think cords are fine for work in the bay area but dark wash jeans are still going to be dressier.

I have dark brown flare wide leg cords, sage green bootleg cords, grey moto/cargo cords and wine skinny leg cords. I wear them all, but as you can see, they are not duplicates in any one style.
Go with what you think will get the most mileage out of your wardrobe and fits with your lifestyle.

I was recently in Nordstroms and I tried on the Kut from the Kloth Farrah boot cut cords -- they fit like a dream, and the narrow wales feel so velvety that I bought myself the caramel and ordered the charcoal.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ku.....ltback=982

I'm now debating if I should send back the charcoal pair. Here are the pros and cons of keeping.

Pros:
1. The pants fit like a dream. Immodest of me to say, but IMO, they look better on me than the model.
2. Cords are likely to get a lot of wear, especially between now and spring and perhaps even beyond. I live in the CA Bay Area, and it is a little chilly and foggy most of the time and I run cold.
3. My work place in quite informal, but cords feel like a dressier option to jeans, which is what most people wear.
4. I'm making over my wardrobe and need well-fitting bottoms.

Cons:
1. I also have a dark green pair from J Crew that I love. Just not as much a the Kut. I don't really need 3 pairs of cords, do I?
2. I'm making over my wardrobe and need variety in my bottoms.

What's a girl to do? Please weigh in. What should I be thinking about as I make my K/R or K/T decision?
