Ironically, except for the suede boots, I wear every pair regularly. Beginning in October, I only wear a pair of shoes ( maybe ) during the holidays or if I need a sneaker. It is as if I have either boots or sandals. I have also been building "the collection", since 1988. They're either on a wire shoe rack by the entrance to my living room or standing on the floor of my long entrance hallway near the door (they go in the hallway if they have been recently worn and have yucky things like snow and salt the soles). It doesn't work for me to have them (or any shoes) in my closet or in boxes because I won't wear them if I don't see them, plus I don't wear shoes inside the house, so my shoes are all kept near the door/entrance hallway so I can put them on and take them off when I leave and enter the apartment. The exception is things like formal shoes that only come out for special occasions - those are stored in boxes in the closet. This is really helpful! I only have 1 pair of "real" boots...the taupe carson shorties. My other 2 pairs are snowboots and black tall Uggs. I'm embarrassed to say that I wear the Uggs the most because they are warm, snuggly and feel like slippers. I know they don't look nice, but I haven't found anything remotely as warm and comfy.But I am looking! I'm learning what works for me and what doesn't with each pair that I send back. I am quite impressed that many of you have so many pairs that work for you. I think I've tried on 20 pairs of boots and have only found one that is comfy and works for my purposes. The elusive knee high black or dark brown riding boot seems very common in the mix of boots listed by YLFers. I think when I find the right pair for me, they will be my most worn pair of boots. Followed by black booties and then some other fun colors and styles.
