I have 4 pairs--2 blue, 1 brown, and 1 dark gray. I don't like the inseam length (too short for my boots), but they work well with athletic shoes on weekends. They're on their way out of my wardrobe, as my three DDs all hate bootcut jeans and are so adament about it that I switched to straight and slim legged jeans. Now that I made the switch, I realize they're right. Oh well... at least I don't have too many!

I still love my flared Express Editors, though. Like Angie, I prefer a more fluid fabric for wider-width pants. That said, traditional wide-legged pants don't flatter me. The Express Editors are not wide all the way down, so they work well. I wear them with 3-inch heels.

I own one pair (my pant collection is shameful) and I was thinking of bringing them to the tailor to turn them into straight legs, but am really rethinking that now!

Two pairs, and they are both new. One is a very dark wash and the other is a medium wash. I've been wearing them with pointy shoes and love the combo! I also have a pair of bootcut cords that I haven't worn yet.

I should have a few pairs, but they all seem skinny/tapered or flared. I'm not sure I can tell my straight legs from bootlegs proper.

Just one, and I hardly ever wear them. I prefer straights and tapered BFs to boot cuts. I keep them, though, because I still really like them.

I have 5-- all of my jeans are bootcut. 2 pairs are "painting and construction work jeans", 2 pairs are work jeans (for my field season), and I have one pair of dark blue Gap jeans that I wear when I have to look smart casual.

Bootcuts will always be part of my life, since nothing else works well with hiking boots, cowboy boots, ect. Sure, I could and have switched to more technical pants for hiking, but nothing beats denim for fishing and hanging out at the cabin.

The boot also balances out my proportionally larger thighs and makes the jean look more straight cut.

I own 3, but I'm purging one, bringing it down to 2. I love my JAG bootcuts, with that pull on waist, which makes for a smooth untucked look, but no tucking (alas). I still like a bootcut, but I think I'd like a pair with a looser fit in the leg and a lighter wash for next spring.

Thank God bootcut jeans are coming back in style! I just bought a pair at Kohl's a few weeks ago, they are great. But I still find myself wearing my skinnies, which it took me a couple of years to come around to wearing them, and now they are going out... LOL of course

At a guess for the jeans probably around 35 pairs of bootcut ,4-5 pairs of streight leg, and somewhere around 20ish for flare and maybe 10 trouser jeans?

I work in fashion retail and jeans have been encouraged for workwear the past 7 years. And my size and taste have stayed pretty much the same. I'm finding that this year I am not as interested in what is on offer for jeans as the cut has changed to a uncomfortable/unflattering one for me ( LOTTTA Skinnies/jeggings and wider waist narrow cut on thigh styles ) so what does catch my eye is often something quite similar in details to something I already have and the new option in the store would have to be altered to fit my smaller waist.

I have atleast 3 pairs, and have always loved them and have never completely replaced them with my skinnies. I like them for more casual looks, especially when the weather is on the warmer side. But even with heels, they create a nice (and probably more forgiving on days you don't feel so skinnylicious!) shape that is easy to dress around or pair with a jacket.

To tell you the truth, my go-to pair are (get ready to snicker at the brand!) my AE "skinny kick" distressed light-ish wash jeans. They just work well, from the most casual white tee and DC skate sneakers to a blazer with rolled sleeves and pyramid studded heels.

I love my dressier skinnies, but sometimes you just need that 'one pair' of bootcut (or flare!) jeans that reminds you why we're all so thankful for denim!

I have two pairs of Paige bootcuts, one hemmed for lower heels, one left full length for higher. I'm having the shorter ones narrowed slightly to baby boot cut. Also a pair of Hudson baby boots, and some Joe's that are just a smidge snug (I ordered the wrong size and kept them out of optimism, sigh), but still wearable.

I am considering having an orphaned pair of BR bootcuts narrowed slightly too. Otherwise, I have a couple of pairs of old David Kahn bootcuts that I keep for mucking around in the yard or my junkyard expeditions -- one of them does a passable impression of BF jeans if I peg them, since those jeans are from when I was a size larger.

So I have a few. I let go of a couple of pairs of skinny skinnies, and I'm liking the idea of switching things up more this fall and winter.

Bootcuts or flares i think are more flattering on me than straights or skinnys so I have a probably a 50-50 split in my closet... The bootcuts dont feel as fresh looking after spending more time on YLF but I like how they make my body look and they are what everyone wears locally so i certainly dont feel too behind the times in real life. I have 6 pairs currently. 3 -- one each light, med, dark that get worn quasi regularly, 3 white -- two identical boot, one flare. Perfect hem length is critical for not feeling like I have totally missed the boat...

I just bought a pair in my new size from Old Navy. I was just feeling the "hey, it's fall, I need a new pair of jeans" vibe, ya know? Total I maybe own 5, somewhere along those lines. I think the shape is pretty flattering on me, but I have to admit that the distinction between straightlegs and bootlegs isn't always clear to me - some that the stores call one I could call the other, at least in my size, and vice versa.

Wow! A wide diversity of opinions here, and an equally wide variety of bootleg jean collections: from Ingunn with zero to Cheryl with 15+. It's a good thing all shapes and sizes of pant leg are in style to accommodate us all.

It's been helpful for me to read all your answers as to why you choose (or don't choose) certain denim silhouettes over others. Hearing your opinions helps me better form and understand my own. Like Echo said, this forum is so wonderful for helping us each understand where we are on our style journeys.

I have one pair of bootcut jeans that I never wear. Ever. I wore them last in 2011. I keep them just in case I need a pair of "muck about jeans". I am not into bootcut jeans.

But I love bootcut trousers. I wear those a lot. I want to wear a wider hem in a softer fabric. End of story.

I am a straight leg jeans gal. My skinnies are pretty straight. Don't do jeggings or body con.

They would have to be an 11 out of 10 before I'd consider wearing them I never say never though

Two, one black and one dark blue, both Kuts. I like to wear the blues with my hi nesses, but will wear both with any chunky boots. They are both hemmed for a small heel.

None. Boot cuts never appealed to me, even when they were the newest, trendiest thing. Primarily, they are not flattering on me. I am not terribly tall, and I don't feel boot cuts do anything at all to make me look taller or thinner. Granted, not all wardrobe items must work toward that end, but given that I never liked the style to begin with, I never felt the need to learn to make it work for me when it clearly doesn't. Straight legs are a good compromise for me.

And while I love a good, classic almond shaped toe, pointy toes have never appealed to me, either. I do see how boot cuts and pointy toes are very attractive on other people, but pointy toes are generally take to an illogical extreme by the end of their trend cycle and tend to look ridiculous. Last time they were trendy, the toes got so long and so pointy that there would be over an inch and a half of shoe extending beyond my toe. I couldn't bring myself to buy shoes like that, and they left a bad taste in my mouth for most pointy toes after that.

This forum is helping me distinguish my personal style, and neither boot cuts nor pointy toes are right for me, trends be d*mned.
