Mine also last for years, but I have many a' pair. I don't give any shoe more than 3 months with serious walk-the-dog wear.

I must have too many shoes, because I can't remember the last time a pair got worn out before they got tossed. I have roughly 30 shoes, split pretty evenly between summer and winter. So probably 10 sandals, of which I expect most to be around 3 - 5 years. Some are cheapies, some are good leather with wooden heels.

I have quite a few pairs and wear them quite often as my weather is very hot. I can get two seasons out of most but not always.
I buy them across them in all price points and usually have the same luck.

Summers when I only wear 1-2 pairs of shoes, they only last one season.
Those days are over for me though. I have lots of sandals. They seem to last a few years now.

The sandals I wear to work get beat up quickly, it seems. Something about the more delicate materials and concrete means I keep a pair 1-2 years at most. My casual sandals are "tougher" and therefore last a lot longer. Wish it were the other way around! :)

My biggest problem with sandals is that I have the same narrow foot/low volume issue mentioned above. Most sandals just aren't tight enough, and therefore don't provide enough support and mangle my feet if I'm not careful. It's harder for me to enjoy summer footwear for that reason, and price point doesn't seem to make much difference. I don't mind spending quite a bit on a pair of boots because, for me, they last years. Sandals, not so much.

My Chacos normally last for about 2 years. My timberlands have been going for about 3-4 years now, and I think they still have a good amount of life in them (knock on wood).

I have cheap sandals from target that last a few summers with constant wear. I'm really hard on my sandals. Having sprung for the rockstud gladiators only to have the tips of the footbeds already scraped just breaks my heart (and wallet).

Hello again! Loads of ideas here.

-I'll look into sole changing, although I'm not sure that will be possible with my shoes
- I might try to duplicate a pair of sandals I love next time
- Creating an outfit around a less worn pair of sandals sounds like a great idea!

So far, my most expensive sandals are the only ones that hurt me (really, really, really bad). They are Clarks and doubled the price of the other pairs. I don't know that many 'comfortable' sandal brands here in Spain. Never heard of Borns or any other of those you mention I know for a fact that Wonders (Spanish brand) makes excellent shoes and my tall boots are by them, but their sandals are a bit pricey and not that pretty (at least the flat ones, wedges and heels usually are gorgeous).

I agree with Suz. I wear sandals nearly every day from mid-May through September, so if I lean too heavily on one pair they wear out quickly. But even then, I had a favorite pair of black sandals from a few years ago that I only finally retired last year because they were looking tired. My coppery Cole Hahn thong sandals that I purchased two years ago are now starting to show their wear a bit because I've worn them in a lot of demanding situations, but I love them and can't find an equal replacement so I will keep wearing them.

However, I now make an effort to rotate my footwear more evenly since I do have a pretty big collection. Even if I have to choose my shoes first and plan my outfit around them! It gets me out of my old rut of reaching for the same shoes every day!

Just replaced my gladiators and wedge sandals from 2011 as they were knackered. I now have a pair of gladiator-esque sandals with about a one inch heel from Tesco and a pair of tan leather wedges from M&S which I plan to rotate every other day. I've worked out that I shouldn't buy sandals with white insides as they show up dirt much easier and start to look really old and worn out even if the rest of the shoe is in good condition.

mostly mine don't wear out and I just wear them until I get tired of them or they look dated. My favs this year are still my 3 yr old pewter gladiator sandals, but also love my brown ones. These are worn until it gets too cold-usually by the first of November. Like so many of us here I run around in flip flops way too much, so my flip flops last maybe two summers. I did buy two pairs of sandals this summer-not expensive, and not the most comfortable for lots of walking, but wear them like to bridge, out to lunch or casual dinners, visiting, etc.

This is a very good question! My "everyday" summer sandals only seem to last one summer, and it drives me nuts. :)

Meanwhile, *thank you* Diana for mentioning those Summer Soles, I'm going to get some of these - I'd never heard of them before, and I think they'll be just the thing to keep summer shoes fresher.

This year - my conundrum is that I have a few pairs of "fancier" sandals, but I don't (yet) have my running around "OTG" sandals. This is pretty important to me because it's very hot where I live and I can't stand closed up shoes in 100+F weather. I'm about to make an 'emergency' Amazon purchase (or three) for 'OTG' summer sandals from Amazon right now, as a matter of fact.

I'm on my 3rd summer with my gladiator sandals. I have extremely fussy feet, so I always duplicate if I find a comfortable shoe or sandal. I have my gladiators in three different colors: metallic gold, tan, and black. I've also duplicated the Alfani wedge sandals and replace those once a year. Hopefully Macy's will continue to carry them. I would love to be more fashion forward with the most current footwear, but my fussy feet rebel.

My Naot's from last summer look barely worn on the sole and the replaceable sole that your foot lays on is still in fine shape but I would replace it for a fresh one probably at the end of the season. Really like that some Naot's have this option. You can also steal this insole and use it in other shoes...

My everyday sandals last for several years, but I do have more than one pair and I spend $$$ because I prefer real leather footbeds and straps. I've had a few pairs of Clarks, but don't find them as comfortable or as long lasting as my Naot, Wolky, and Arche sandals. I also love my new Toni Pons espadrilles; so comfortable!

I think this really depends on how often you wear them and in what type of conditions and weather. I used to be super hard on my sandals but I only had one pair per year and wore them a lot. Now I have a few pair in rotation. I don't wear completely flat shoes because they are not comfortable for me. But I've noticed that the rate pair I do buy seem to wear out faster than wedges.

Most of mine last for at least 2 years, many for longer than that, but I mostly wear chunky sandals with thick soles (have to, because can't add arch supports to sandals). My favorites are Naots, which are very durable.

I've found that the footbeds of some pairs get gross, but Summer Soles are very good for making them nice again (and I put them in various sandals anyway because they cover up the irritating stitching on, say, Born footbeds.)

Hi!

I always spend a reasonable amount of money on winter shoes, which for me means mainly tall boots. However, I am not keen on doing the same thing with summer shoes.

A workhorse sandal (flat, comfy, easy to wear color) will last me three months. My current g-to sandals were bought at the end of last summer's sale (say, end of July?) and they are already looking old and worn. They were inexpensive but well made, leather, nice cushioned sole, etc. I don't have this problem with wedge sandals or sandals in harder to wear colors, but I have to replace my brown pair every year! To top it off, it's not easy for me to find sandals with good cushioning and tight straps, since I have very slim feet and most shoes fall off them.

Have tried fancier, more expensive brands (Clarks, for instance) and I have the same problem. Actually, my Clarks sandals are really uncomfortable so I almost never wear them no matter how pretty they are. Still, I have managed to destroy them and they look I have worn them a million times.
