Seems fashion is more inclusive instead of just one trend being the end all be all for that year. But beyond that I think staying true to what suits you best and joining with trends that compliment your overall fashion sensibility is probably the best bet. I know in a year or two everyone will be so over zippers. But I won't. I loved them 10 years ago. I will love them 10 years from now. It was from Italy. I wanted it then. I had the money, but not the courage to buy it. I regret that. I finally took the plunge and bought one in Nov., but it is not as fab as the one I saw a decade ago.</p> <p>One time I did impulse purchase an item that has stood me very well. I was in London on a business trip and bought this furry coat (again from Italy). It was a splurge even then (365 pounds).</p> <p>I got the coat in 1996 and have worn it every year since then, and it's held up! But I think it also matters how "on trend" one wants to be. If you wear something because you like it, being on trend doesn't matter as much.
