Weird late Winter here; only the most recent storm was a chilly Arctic one; for the rest we had warm tropical rain. The resorts have been struggling along; one advertised Rare Christmas Hiking as a desperate attempt to draw more visitors.

I don’t dare complain about the weather. Here in Arizona it’s been in the low 60s during the day and high 30s or 40s at night. Sunny. Things will warm up more over the next week.

We had to mow the grass at the end of December — that’s just wrong.

We are just now finally getting the first real cold snap, and just in time as we got our new HVAC unit installed Friday (the old one was destroyed in the fire). The temporary space heaters were ok but with the dip in temps they would have been struggling!

We had a big nasty rainstorm last week in the mid Atlantic — Annapolis declared a state of emergency because so many downtown businesses sustained flood damage and will need help to repair. Not as bad as when Isabel caused a huge storm surge in 2008, but still very significant.

For the past few years we have had almost no snow. Yesterday we had some pretty flurries, and this morning there is a fresh coating of maybe half an inch. It’s possible we’ll get a little more today and this week, but nothing epic is forecast.

Pic is my view right now as I have my morning coffee — yes, our Christmas tree is still up. Those are the lights reflected in the window. My priority has been cleaning out my office and guest room in preparation for repair and renovation after the fire, so putting away holiday decorations has slipped down the to-do list!

What Irina wrote. We had a green Christmas, and there is no snow to speak of. It’s been a godsend for runners, walkers, cyclists, mums with strollers, but not so much for skiers, snowboarders, x-country folks.

On the other hand, I think I’ve seen the sun once in the past 3 weeks!

The weather folks have been backtracking on a storm forecast for the weekend. Snowfall has been revised to rain. Definitely a warmer than usual winter.

I saw a post on Threads that really resonated with me: "It is so cold in California rn. (It's 55 degrees but it's freezing, only Californians will understand.)" So that's my answer!

I'm with Cardiff Girl and the biblical rain. No snow, just mild (50s) to cold (high 20s at night). Much colder overall than last year- hate it!

PNW gifted us their winter - temps above 0, rain, wet snow, grey sky, more rain. I'm not complaining, though. It is rare treat for Toronto, 2C (35F?) on the January 12th! We had some snow but it melted in a few hours.
The weather forecast calls for a winter storm on weekend, though.

I envy you - how I would like a snowfall!
(I live in Northern Italy. We have had an unseasonably warm Autumn and Winter up to date and no snow). I hope the weather will "behave well" where you live.

In the PNW, we are experiencing the effects of El Nino -- which means a generally warmer, dryer winter, where I live. Sounds nice -- and is, temporarily -- but also puts us more at risk for early fire season and floods when it does rain. So...

Our first real cold snap is happening now and also our first snowfall of the year. But I don't think we will get as much as predicted. It will be -10C tonight (14F) and with the wind chill will feel like -21C (-6 F). I realize that is not cold by other people's standards but it is quite cold for these parts.

I live in WI, and we had about 5" of snow on Tuesday - not that much overall, but it was the first significant snow of the year, so everyone got all tense and everything shut down. Now we are actually supposed to get betweeen 8" and a foot of snow tomorrow, possibly more if it continues into tomorrow night. So... schools are closed again, and I will be home baking (our district doesn't do virtual learning, as we have quite a number of days built into the calendar).

There has been a big storm for LOTS of areas of the country, including snow, tornadoes, flooding, etc. How are things in your area? Severe weather, or normal for the time of year? I hope things are going well for you and you aren't experiencing any danger from the weather!
