Hmm, I think of the North Sea as cold, not like clubbing in Miami or L.A. Maybe I have a false image in my mind.
I think locale has everything to do with club wear, as does venue/music. To Rabbit's point, industrial is going to be very different than a top 40 scene, or EDM vs a throwback 70's soul kind of thing.

Good points unfrumped. I think I have a natural tendency to picture the last clubs I was in (which played bhangra and a few years before that NIN and Rage Against the Machine). It's so idiosyncratic to the city or town, and the kind of venue.

Basically though, the point to my mind is to have fun, so whatever outfit made me feel that mix of excitement and anticipation and confidence, and wasn't uncomfortable is what I went for. :D

Oh, I'm also just rereading the part that this is a seashore venue -- so beachy and non-slippy are very good points as Laura mentioned, and maybe it could be cool outside, hence tights.

Well, conversing with the other posters as well as Laura, and leaving aside the dress length, which I know depends a lot on height and build and then youth and tolerance, I thought that boots with flirty dresses was a kind of "look" that is intentionally juxtaposed--I've seen a lot of outfits with cowboy boots for example. So what's up with the drive toward sexy shoes--is it that the boots-dress look is only a day look? And on local culture and the frequenters of said clubs? "Rrefined, sexy, dancing shoes" might be an oxymoron, with the exception of some of those real "dance competition" heels. I mean, ballet flats--not likely.
Or if the boots are the main event, would you steer toward a flirty but different type of dress that gives a more cohesive outfit?
I'm kinda intrigued by this whole discussion.

Well it's been a few years (cough) ;). But I liked to wear tall lace up sleek black boots (no heel) with black tights. I wore black booties too, high heeled and flat, but with cushioning and a sleek look since my default dancing clothes at the time were bodycon and dark colored and I have dark hair.

Basically I think as long as you feel sexy and confident, you are good. :)

I like the outfit. I'm not sure it say *coastal* to me, tho. But I'm not sure I'd care either, lol.

The dress is cute but the boots look a bit overwhelming. Perhaps its time for you to find a comfortable sexy shoe to match that dress?

@Rabbit That's cool to hear someone who also at times selects their outfit around their footwear. What kind of shoes do you like to wear for clubbing?

Regardng the earthy feel with bare legs, I like that idea. Perhaps this outfit will work with bare legs or suntan tights to keep that earthy feel.

Regarding clubs stretchy jeggings in pale earth tones do stand out well, I hear you! I've got lots of jeggings i can wear for future club nights Thanks for the tip!

When I'm going dancing I start from the shoes and work up too :). The boots have a rugged/boho/earthy feel so to my eye they might work best without tights but with bare legs, and they might work fine with the dress that way. It's kind of hard for me to get a sense without seeing them on.

The boots might also look good with a solid color dress of a somewhat similar floaty/fluid shape. Other thoughts that come to mind are leggings or skinnies in a mid-tone earth tone, gray, or taupe, and a pale earth-toned or white tunic top with sexy shoulders. Pale colors stand out in clubs and would look great with your hair (if you are blonde).

Alternately experiment with different more refined or glam shoes with the dress as long as they are comfortable.

@K Thanks for the reply! I don't have a pair of ankle boots that would match that dress. I do have brown heels but I can't dance in heels for long as I would end up getting tired easily. The Uggs Arroyo boots have a fleece liner for padding plus I hide a pair of padded socks inside there on top of my tights, which have a padded footbed. LOL All that gives me extra cushioning so I can dance for a longer period of time in heels. Shhhh, the padding is my little secret of how I can dance in heels so long ;)

Do you think switching to another style of tights would make this outfit work better?

Perhaps I should switch to my Kelsi Dagger brown boots?

Clubbing party along the shores of the North Sea. I am hoping to go for a fun, flirty look thus my selection of this leopard print dress. These Ugg Arroyo clogs are my go to heels as they are super comfortable plus the rubber sole with treads gives them a firm grip on the floor, especially wet floors that might result from spilled alcohol while dancing or water mist from the ocean.
