My best guess would be to keep the contrast low with skinnies or hose and dresses. I am about to get rid of a old but gorgeous pair of gray Bronx boots for this same reason. I prefer when boots either hit right below the start of the knee or covering the entire knee, hitting the bottom of the thigh. These are hitting in the knee area, an odd spot. Also did you sit down with these that high yet? One reason I brought the Frye Jane Tall Cuff to the YLF swap, they hit me in the same odd spot as these boots are hitting you. Uncuffed the were in the knee area and it drove me batty after a while.
