I know that the online vs. BM prices are different, sales and promos run all the time. Never pay full price there.

THis happened to me yesterday at Neiman Marcus. I found a quilted Burberry jacket that I liked. I checked Neiman's website to see if they had the size and color I wanted at my local store. They did. Went in yesterday and purchased. I didn't bother looking at the price tag, because I expected it to be the same as the online price. When I looked at the receipt, I had been charged $100 more than website price. Called SA and was told that price had increased 2 weeks ago. She even pointed out that a Neiman's price tag had been added...they had broken off the Burberry tag part with the price on it. She did honor the website price, thankfully. Looks like prices are increasing at many places. Buyer beware...

IK, it was a full original price and I have seen the same price i the store as well.
I thought the same thing as Becky that it may be related to the US dollar value. Although the prices on the Canadian website are in Canadian dollars usually they are always a bit higher than on US website. However for this particular jacket the prices were even...until yesterday.
In any case I find it really weird and I am glad I got mine already on the discount (I also never buy full price in Gap or BR). I am still stalking the L Tall size in it but if it ever appear I think they will honor my sale price for the exchange.

I've never seen that…but I wonder if they "mark" prices in US dollars and then there was a change in the conversion rate? I've been on the road this week, and when I went to exchange money, I noticed that the exchange rate has changed quite a bit in the past 3 months. I don't look at canadian dollars, but the AU dollar had fallen quite a lot, the US dollar a little less, and the UK pound was OK (in comparison to Euros).

I've definitely found different prices online and in store, as IK mentions, but not a specific instance like you share, Sveta. It wouldn't surprise me, though. Gap's one of those places (although Gap Canada might be different) where I never ever will pay full price for anything. There's always a sale or a discount coming up if you have a Gap/BR/ON card (which I do).

Wow, I've never seen that. I don't shop Gap often, but I do shop BR a lot. I've never seen that at BR. I've seen crazy sales, where you'll have something half price one day and then full price the next, but I don't recall ever seeing something go up in price from the original! The only thing I can guess (assuming honesty on the part of the retailer) is that the item was so popular that they got more made, and the cost to manufacture the second set was for some reason more than it was for the first set.

Just another reason not to shop Gap. Ha ha.

I don't think YLF packs enough of a $ punch to affect Gap's pricing. I do know the b&m stores often mark items down well before the website due to space and inventory needs. And prices on the web sites change according to whatever special pricing they run at any given moment.

Sveta, I noticed the same thing with the floral bomber. When Angie first posted it in her roundup, it was $59.99. Well it went up to $64.99 about two weeks after that. I honestly think that when sales spike for an item, they greedily raise the price.

I am really confused: have you ever seen price go UP on an item after it has been available for a month (excluding NAS of course)?
Gap moto jacket was $118 from the beginning on Gap Canada website. The one in solid navy never wend down in price (although there were overall discounts ). I was in the mall on Sunday and saw them with sale sticker of $99. Imagine my surprise tonight when I see them online for $128 - $10 up from the original price!
Is it weird or what?
