I look forward to reading everyone's garden stories, and Deb, you garden pics always soothe me. Love your roses and gardenia.

Dianthus, the metamorphosis of your garden is like seeing a dream come true. It is amazing how fast you are accomplishing the layout of your garden rooms!

Can't believe what you have created, Caudia! I had Joe Pie at my last house, and was surprised to find Milkweed front and center in the garden at the new house. Butterflies, yes. Not sure about Monarchs though.

How have you managed what looks like a family friendly yard with such variety in your gardening, Glory? You had me at pic #1.

JAileen, DH is mad for peaches! We are not quite warm enough, but will get them at the market when brought in from the Niagara area.

Hang in there A. I hope you have a nice hotel to stay in. One week was plenty for me and mine!

Glad you're all moved in Carla, views are beautiful.

Well, it was 105F/41C yesterday. So you can imagine how awful the garden looks. However, we're also having some weird monsoonal air flow and so we had a tremendous rainstorm yesterday evening. So the garden doesn't look as bad as expected.

The pictures in order:
Peaches, grapes, a volunteer sunflower, Anaheim peppers, tomatoes, buddleia (butterfly bush), purple coneflowers.

I finally managed to take a few pictures on the weekend. It seems when I have time it is raining cats and dogs. I have only taken pictures from the back yard so far. Included in photo 1 - mojitos with the mint from my garden.

Carla, that view is amazing, also I love the grounds and features of the new place so much. Simply beautiful.

Yes, the annual pickings are slim now. Soon it will be mainly asters and mums. I had to dig deep to come up with these new container gardens for the front entrance of the garden center. We got in some fresh dahlias, zinnias, flowering vincas and pentas, so along with the remaining geraniums, sunpatiens and handful of Proven Winner trailing plants left, this is what I came up with.

My perennial beds are peaking with only the Joe Pye Weeds and rudbeckias left to flower (and the phlox after the deer got to the original buds). My butterfly bushes are just starting to open -- very late this year. This winter was hard on these usually very tough "weed" shrubs around here. A lot of people in my area lost theirs. I have 4 and all came back, but smaller than usual and so late to bloom.

Noticeably a lot fewer butterflies this year, too. Bonus shots taken a couple of days ago of the lone monarch I've seen in my garden, or anywhere so far this summer. It looks like it's waiting for the butterfly bush on its left to open in #3. In #4 it's on the coneflower, center.

Dianthus, the bed looks really good. The gazebo looks inviting, is it screened?

Carla, your view is worth buying a house.
Deb, the crepe myrtle looks amazing. I had elephant ear at my last house and it was so nice to see it in spring. It was always the first green and then popped up those big pink flowers.

My plants are too new to look any different but I have made a few changes. We put up the gazebo on the weekend and built a wall around the flower bed in the front yard after work today. I can't believe we dug a trench and put in 2000 lbs of stone in an evening.

We also put together the dining table, coffee table, and BBQ. Then we bought the matching loveseat to go with the DR set.

We hired a company to do the sod on the outside of the new wall and are going to put brown bark mulch on the plant side. Almost finished the hardscape.

Carla, you have a beautiful view. I see why you chose this house. It has been very hot here and the growth button has been turned off. Even the grass is not growing much. What lawn we let live. Here is what is happening around here.

Crepe Myrtle -watermelon

a house plant the was consuming my counter. Just plopped it in a bare spot.

Elephant ear that I planted several years ago. The dogs demolished it but it is making a comeback.

My new rose tree my son gave me for Mother's Day. Hot Cocoa

The ponytail palm continues to grow out of its freeze.

And gardenia First Love continues to bloom.

Late post due to internet connectivity issues last night. (Sorry!).

Revisited some of the older garden posts and pics for inspiration on planting up some pots. Especially Claudia's inspirational arrangements. It is a little late in the season, so pickings at the garden centres were slim, but I managed. They look a little straggly at this point, but I plan to post some pics when they fill out a bit.

I did take a break from the 'moving in activities' to spend part of a day weeding. (DH played golf with a friend!)

Below is a pic from our deck. We are on the south side of a street called 'Ravine Drive' and face south. THIS is why we picked the house we chose! We can just glimpse the church spires of the town and Lake Ontario in the distance!

So how is your garden faring in July?
