<p>Thank you, Suntiger. &nbsp;These lilies actually look like the catalogue photo only so far they are shorter than I expected. &nbsp;I hope your plants do well. &nbsp;

<p>Love the lillies Joy!<br />
I'm worried about my plants cause the heat (doesn't get below 90 til sun goes down) and lack of rain

<p>1. My native black eyed susans are at peak right now.&nbsp;<div><br /><div>2/3. Recently, we found this caterpillar inside the house(!) We carefully placed him in our bronze fennel, hoping he’ll make a cocoon.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>4. The hydrangea ‘Preziosa’ SHOULD look like this right now. Unfortunately, &nbsp;not realizing they bloom on new wood, I pruned them too late this spring, and they have no blooms this year. :(</div></div>

<p>Our front yard is being dug up, and we are having flagstone put down.&nbsp; Finally!&nbsp; It has only been 11 years.&nbsp; Garth has been digging tunnels under the fence.&nbsp;<br />I usually do containers but not this year.&nbsp; I will wait till everything is done.

<p>Got a few tiger lillies now, and behind them are some wild grapes that showed up this year. I'm afraid to do too much cause we will be building a new house here at some point. </p>
<p>Strawberries and asparagus are done at the farms, but we have blueberries, melons, corn, cucumbers, tomatos, squash and zucchini. I just load up my fridge with fresh food this time of year

<p>Not a lot of flowers in our shady yard, but daylilies are blooming now, and hostas are finishing up…except this one lovely purple-flowered one with varietaged leaves — I hope that one multiplies! It’s been hidden in a part of our yard that is now newly-revealed.</p>
<p>Rose of Sharon tree is starting to bloom, and one hydrangea is blooming nicely. Nowhere near the brilliant bloom we had last year. </p>
<p>Veggies are doing well, for the most part. Lots of tomatoes, none getting red yet but it won’t be long (I supported that sagging heirloom tomato after I took the photo) . Zucchini is ailing — I think out natural pollinators are not thriving around here. The squash grows nicely for a while but then the end turns brown and it falls off. </p>
<p>Pic 8 is a poor moth that must have met its end in our swimming pool. But it looked so pretty with the shadow and the sun I had to take a photo.

<p>Oh, Irina, so sad. &nbsp;The storms went through here too, but we just got buckets of rain. &nbsp;Because the ground was softened up by a couple of days of slow drizzle, it was all absorbed. &nbsp;Our pond, which can get quite low, is looking quite full. &nbsp;<div><br /></div><div>@ JAileen - a miracle!</div>

<p>We were hit by hail yesterday. It was short but ferocious, about &nbsp;15 minutes. The size of ice pellets was bigger than a pea and it was coming down so hard. Plants took a beating! I managed to move 2 potted flowers out the harm way but some damage was already done Hostas that grow along the side of our house now have holes in their leaves. One of my big indoor/outdoor plants lost almost all new leaves and looks pitiful. So sad.

<p>I should take some new pictures. The cucumbers stayed forever with their first set of true leaves and they finally put out a second set and the first flowers. But gosh they’re not climbing. They used to be my easy plant. I wonder if starting ‘on time’ for once wasn’t slightly pointless.</p>
<p>I suck at succession planting. That’s got to be on next year’s list of gardening goals.

<p>Has it been 3 weeks already? &nbsp;How is your garden faring? &nbsp;Here, on the northern shores of Lake Ontario our lawn and gardens got saved by some timely and very thorough rain. &nbsp;I planned my lettuce crops better and we have been getting regular salads. &nbsp;Yesterday we had peas, and will do so again today (with lamb on the menu!), 4 tomatoes plants are bearing fruit, &nbsp;if one seems to be a dud - lots of greenery and&nbsp;<i>no&nbsp;</i>flowers or fruits. &nbsp;The first cul of basil has been turned into pesto cubes - it came on too fast and abundant to consume it all at meals. &nbsp;Edible pea pods are catching up to the regular peas, and the green beans are in bloom. &nbsp;I may have edible zukes next week.&nbsp;<div><br /></div><div>The flower garden is showing pink ATM, with the roses just going over their peak. &nbsp;Daylily are throwing up lots of buds, but are a week or two from blooming. &nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>The Echinacea in #6 is a gift from a friend who divided hers last fall and provided me with some starts last fall. &nbsp;I managed to foil the rabbits this time by hiding them amongst aromatics (lavender and Russian sage) that put the varmints noses out of joint! :-p.</p>
<p>The folks at Burnham’s Family Farm report it has been a very good year for crops so far, and the strawberries this year are out of this world! &nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Have your gardens transitioned from spring to summer? &nbsp;Anything standing out as particularly fabulous? &nbsp;How are your edibles coming along? &nbsp;What’s the scuttlebutt at the farmers market? &nbsp;For those in the PNW, do you think it will be a good year for wine?</div><div><br /></div><div>Please share your pics and garden stories.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>
