Cileena, FWIW my JCrew shorts also stretch out quite a bit. You might want to buy them a little snug.

Cilleena, I just looked at the size chart. My hip measurement is between the 2 and the 4, and my waist measurement is between the 4 and the 6. I am pretty sure I would take a 4 in these shorts, if that help (as I do in basically all JC shorts).

Don't you mean that you think they run big, Kyle? If you wear a 6 in Jcrew and an 8 in other brands.

I fall squarely in their size 8 according to their size chart, but typically 8 is a bit too small for me. I think I'll order an 8 and a 10. I'm actually more rectangular shaped than I used to be, but I'm still considered an hourglass shape. I think I have fair average sized hips and bottom for my body size.

I actually think they run a tad small. I consistently wear a size 6 in J Crew while perhaps needing an 8 in other brands. But agree that they are good for rectangles.

I find JC is all over the map and the pieces fit very differently. I have two skirts in the same size and one is snug and one is baggy. I bought a skirt online a few months ago and it was tight in the hips and about 6" too large in the waist. Very disappointing.

Definitely avoid their final sale unless you're 100% sure of sizing.

In my experience, JCrew's sizing is more inconsistent than any other store where I shop. I have size 2 shorts that are falling off my hips and a winter coat that's a 10. I usually wear a 4. Shoulders/bust tend to be narrow and their bottoms are cut for a very straight figure.

Calling a rep before buying is your best bet.

Thanks everyone! I knew I could count on you to help!

I think I'll talk to a Jcrew rep since I've never tried their clothes before. I really hate breaking in a new online store...aka. figuring out how their clothes fit my body shape.

My J Crew bottoms run small - way small in relation to the Gap. My Gap leans are a size 2 with a bit of extra wiggle room, and my J Crew Matchsticks are a now-skintight 27. I don't think J Crew allows for much of a booty.

I actually find JCrew to run large a lot of the time, but this is mostly with regards to tops. I don't have as many bottoms from JCrew but they run less large, so to speak.

I totally agree with Jonesy about both the rectangular thing, and their sizing being wonky. I've seen 0s that I swam in, and I've seen 4s that I could barely zip.

I agree with Dashrashi re. J. Crew shorts and bottoms in general. I find that, overall, their clothes are made for a rectangular build (straight up and down, small bust, narrow hips), though they can sometimes be all over the map with sizing.

Don't buy anything that's final sale! I find J Crew shorts to run roughly true to size. If I would take a 2 or a 4 at Old Navy or a 4 or a 6 at Banana Republic/Anthropologie, I would probably take a 4 (maybe a 2 if it's a skirt) at J Crew. (I find Gap sizing to be really, really all over the place, but I usually take a S, sometimes an XS, occasionally a M, and usually a 4 (sometimes a 6) in bottoms.) My best-fitting shorts from J Crew are a 4 (and that would be my default order for shorts size), whereas my pencil skirts from JC are evenly divided between 2s and 4s. I also have relatively slim hips and effectively no butt.

You can also call or chat J Crew customer service reps to get actual garment measurements for each size you're considering. You can match that up against items you already own.

I don't know how they compare to Gap...But i would say JCrew runs on the small/jr size. If you have never tried on their clothes, don't care for a slim fit and aren't sure you may want to size up.

Some cute shorts are on sale at Jcrew and they are having a special on shipping. I'm thinking of these shorts, but I've never tried on Jcrew and don't know how they fit.

Is Jcrew TTS, run big, small? How do they compare to Gap...sizing wise?
