I have one pair, and if my weather conditions were different I would have more. I like them best sans socks in mid-range temps (i.e. around 16-22 C) and we don't get a lot of days like that where I live. When we do, I bust them out! I love them with rolled skinny jeans, a midi skirt, slim slouchy jeans or pants, or a knee length pencil skirt.

Deb, I've got some shoes like that! I like oxfords with everything, esp skinnies. I do kind of wear them where I'd wear booties now that o think about it. The only thing I don't do is the menswear look and wear them with trousers.

I have 5 pair of oxfords (silver, black suede, black patent double monk straps, blue brogues and blue/green color shifting sequins) and I've only worn them with skinny jeans/cords or boyfriend jeans. I love them and am now thinking I need to come up with more options to get them out. Like Diana, these are my ballet flat alternatives because they generally have more sole/structure, which I find to be more comfortable. Like approprio, I am an IT who looks best with some visual weight on the bottom to ground me.

I too adore my flat oxfords, but I find them harder to wear than short boots with a stacked heel. If I were tall, I'd wear them with rolled jeans, but since I'm short and slim and I need a touch of added height! But for me, flat oxfords are the perfect thing with a shorter skirt. I love the look of flat oxfords with above-knee hemlines. I had a number of shorter, straight skirts that were almost orphaned, because I used to wear them with my flat knee boots but I've grown tired of that look. When I got flat oxfords, I brought all of those skirts back from the brink.

I adore oxfords and I think I have 6 pairs! I wear them very often in sprinf and fall, and moderately in the summer, as I am not allowed to wear open-toed shoes at work. I wear them with BF and straight jeans, cigarette pants. I ahve very dainty ankles and calves and the pair with more substantial soles do not look good on my legs with skinnies and skirts/dresses. Two of my pairs of oxfords are pretty refined and less clunky, and those I wear with pretty much everything.

i stopped in the Clarks Store. The oxfords are beautiful, but they are for very narrow feet. My feet are definitely not narrow. I was forced to leave them there.

This is a good question. I love seeing them on others and I have a collection (won't reveal how many but I have several metallic and black patent including the chunky Docs below) but rarely wear them. Sveta wears them so well and a few others. I'm going to watch this for some inspiration.

I wear mine with rolled jeans, bootcuts, shorts, and skirts/dresses. To me they are like my version of a fashion sneaker. Less sporty ( since I don't do sporty) and just as comfy. I wear secret socks underneath. Check my old WIWs (not recently though as they are too cold for winter) if you want some inspiration!

My favorites are born arlettas, which are sadly discontinued, but there is a similar born style called Bristol that's still available.

Eta: I also wear them in place of ballet flats and loafers, since lower vamp shoes don't stay on my feet.

I wear them with my cigarette leg wool pants to work, I have the pants hemmed so that there is a little scrunch. For casual I wear them with cuffed and rolled jeans. For spring I'm going to try them with a cropped pant for work.

I used to wear oxfords. There were my absolute favorite shoes, but I wore them into the ground and haven't replaced them. I am going to go to Clarks this morning and see if I can pick up one pair in black and one pair in a lighter color. I will wear them with everything from pants to jeans to skirts. Thanks for posting this question.

I'm an IT with skinny legs, chunky feet and a slight preference for flats. Big bold shoes are an important component of my look, because I feel they ground me and keep me from looking like I'm going to tip over.

I have two pairs of brogues, white Churches in the summer and oxblood Dr Martens in winter. Generally they're very versatile and I wear them with more or less everything. At the moment it's mainly with BF jeans rolled to a cuff or knee length skirts and woolly tights. In the summer it's more likely to be a dress or tailored pants.

It is a great style, and a good way to add interest to an outfit with a statement shoe. The ones I've seen at Clarks look very nice.

Hey! I got a pair of oxfords for the reason that they looked classy and importantly they could be tied snugly to my feet. I spent a lot of time walking around during the day and I've got narrow feet, so often flats just fall off and are quite uncomfortable. I wear them mostly with dresses and tights that are either opaque or shear black. My mum calls them my 'librarian shoes' but I love them and I've received many compliments on them.

The ones I have are from Clarks and they are very well made and comfortable. They've got lots of different variations and colours, so even if you don't end up buying them there, browsing their website is a good place to start to see what style you like. I have the Hamble Oak ones in black leather.

http://www.clarks.co.uk/c/womens-shoes/brogues

Hope you find something you love! :)

p.s. the photo is just me wearing them with a dress. Hard to see the details because it's a mobile phone camera, but I hope you can still see them!

BFs primarily for me. I have sometimes worn them with my BR sloans, which hit me at the ankle. Probably a length that makes Angie cringe but I think works for me, esp with flats :). I also wore them with a dress at a conference, but felt a little off.

I wear mine mostly with straight-leg jeans (which fit my calves more like skinnies). I find them a little tricky to wear, though I love them. Mine are a little masculine and less refined. They are super, super comfortable.

These are good questions. My first oxfords (since highschool) were black and cream. They seemed to make such a statement that I was hesitant to wear them. When I finally did they got raves and were warm and comfortable. I like a refined oxford with something special like patent leather or a color rather than a masculine look. I wear them mostly in cool/cold weather, with or without socks, and mostly with jeans or pants because that is what I wear mist on a daily basis.

I think I prefer them with pants instead of shorts or skirts because my ankles look to skinny with them, maybe I still have to find the way to make them work. I prefer the androgynous look that it gives you when you wear them with pants

I own 3 prs of oxfords; grey, white and cognac. Love them all! I most often wear them with BFs' with hem rolled, also with capris and shorts. I don't like them with skinnies, but I have some looser fitting skinnies and will roll the hem on them as well. All 3 colours are extremely versatile for me.

For those of you who own/wear oxfords how do you wear them? I haven't ventured into them before but there were several of you that mentioned they were on your acquisition list or that they would be the pair that would have to be prised from your cold dead hands during the fashion revolution.

Do you just wear them where you could wear a bootie or a loafer? What is it about the oxford that makes it your preference? Are their particular styles or colours that make them more versatile?
