I felt they were really refined and streamlined, so yes a combat boot, but not chunky like many, so i would see these working well for your style. At least that's how I like them best. They have become my default black bootie so I also wear them with dresses/skirts and tights, with bootcut jeans and wider leg trousers... I really like the balance they provide to a slimmer pant/jean and think they suit midi dresses and skirts so well. These look fabulous. My dilemma is I think black would be better for me in versatility but I am trying to move away from black slowly.....Teal could solve the problem haha. My favorite way to wear them is with midi skirts, either A-lines or straight-cut. I like the juxtaposition of rugged and feminine. I see them working with rusts, teals, greys, lilacs, black, browns. Super versatile.  Do you follow fellow Canuck Liv Judd on Instagram? She does these types of outfits SO well, and has been tucking in baggy sweats, pants etc into boots and making it look really great.  Of course she's model thin and beautiful , so everything looks superb, but her styling ideas are fantastic. I don't really wear skirts often but I wear them with pants and jeans. The latter keeps making me want a pair of shorter combat boots, as I have a knee-length pair that works well with skirts/dresses, but not with cropped pants.  Cropped, looser straight jeans are a great casual option, too. Short boots like yours pair with all lengths of skirts. But that’s me, not you. I think these would look great with your wool pants. But really, just start giving them a try with whatever you’re wearing and you’ll get the hang of what they work with. But my answer to your question is I wear my boots too little. Was so excited to have them back, but they’ve been to the cobblers not once but twice, and got stuck there during a lockdown. I might even try them with shorts sometime. I've definitely gotten more comfortable playing with different pairings over time; when I got my first pair I was at a bit of a loss, too, but they quickly became an extremely versatile favorite. If your usual look is refined, I'd suggest trying them with a dress and a structured topper, or pants with a straight or wider leg. The former is a fun way to toughen up dresses and the latter gives a little boost without them stealing the show. I haven’t been on the forum much because, well, life... but I do pop on occasionally and keep up with each of you :) I fell in love with a pair of teal suede combat boots (weatherproof). They are very much my style (refined luxe but with a bit of edge), and I could make the color work well with my earth tones. But - I’m not sure how I would wear them. With skinny jeans? Or straight legs, cuffed? I don’t wear jeans much. Maybe with leggings with a skirt on top (I don’t wear leggings as pants much anymore.) With dress pants that are ankle length? I love the edginess these would add to my refined look, and maybe I am just not used to how to wear them yet. How do you wear combat boots?
