The only reason I didn't wear them today is because I only have 5 pairs of flat shoes to work with and I wanted to save them for a different outfit instead of repeating.

I see what you mean -- I wore this style years ago and even though I find them conventionally flattering, they're not exactly current-looking. If you like the pattern, I would suggest treating it more like a skirt and wearing something like a cropped sweater or jacket over it, and booties.

I get a 80's feel from the geometric pattern. How about adding a moto? Could you put a flower hair pin or a brooch over the "bow"? Updated shoes and bag might help to rescue it. Would love to see it on you. It's a bit hard to see how the neckline is right now.

The dress in question is knee length fit and flare. The pattern isn't so bad, it has lots of purple so I like that. I think it's the design, the neckline in particular, that dates it. There is gather with almost a bow effect I'm not fond of. I tried it with this long cardi, but that left me looking completely shapeless so I'm thinking a more fitted cardi in a bright color (pink?) and maybe a scarf to cover the neckline would work.

Any thoughts?
