I almost always have to make this adjustment on jeans. I'm not a sew-er so I always take it in for alterations but it's never very pricey so I think it's a pretty easy adjustment.

Good luck!

Cloud9, an 8" difference between waist and hip measurements isn't very much at all. Was that a typo?

10" is the supposedly typical difference for women (like 36-26-26!). Before I had a kid, I had a 12" difference, which caused fit problems at the waist, but now it is more like 9"--problem solved, I guess . . .

Check with your book store, or online, for a book by Barbara Corrigan; "How to Make Pants and Jeans That Really Fit". It explains all the fitting issues with jeans and how to work with them. My mom gave me the book when I turned 14, and it's been my jeans bible, ever since.

Cheers

I think it would be best to have a professional take the waist band off, alter the back at both the sides and the back seams and put the waist band back on. If that is too costly I would make the yokes, one or two on each side. I find this works with thin material, much less with jeans because the waist band tends to be very thick.

I almost always have problems with jeans, as there is about 8 inches of difference between my waist & hips. My waist is also high waist. Typically, when the hips fit perfectly, there is 3-4 inches of gap at waist. A belt can help with 1-2 inches, more than that I feel too much bunching. What I do is stitch a little triangle on each side. I tried youtube, the only one I found is stitching straight from the back, that wouldn't work well with jeans with yokes and I don't want to mess with the double seams either. What do you do?
