I wear mine with basically anything. Most often skirts/dresses of all sorts and cropped or rolled pants.

I like mine best with more croppy-cropped pants, shorts, or with the occasional skirt/dress (usually the shorter lengths versus midis). Don't like them for myself with full length pants, ankle length pants, or straight legs (which I don't wear anyway). Tan sounds versatile, if the shade works with your wardrobe colors -- you can wear them as a "nude flat".

I have two pairs of metallic oxfords. I just got #2 and haven't worn them yet, because it's still hot here. But I would wear #1 with jeans. They just make an ordinary casual outfit nicer.

I have a pair of metallic oxfords (I realize they're not quite brogues, but close) that I tend to wear with cropped pants.

I have some tan/cognac ones with a low block heel, and although they take some thinking about, I find they give my wardrobe a little extra dimension. I like them best with vaguely retro hipster-tomboy stuff: skinny plaid rolled up jeans, oversized sweaters, boy shirts. In chilly weather I'll add argyle socks and a loose leather jacket & scarf. Try wearing yours around the house with different things and see what clicks. Even one outfit that feels more "finished" with the addition of those brogues makes them worth keeping in my book.

I think Angie might be right about color. I have an easier time with brogue in black shoes and white shoes. In tan, taupe, brown, etc, it starts to look a little too old-man-golfing to my eye. Harder to style.

Would love to see some pics. I bet you could make them work if you're determined. My first thought is RATE jeans (maybe raw-hem cropped) and a classic sweater -- crewneck cardigan, ribbed turtleneck? maybe in white or ivory? -- as a starting point.

I wear them with everything you mentioned and skirts and dresses. But I have an off-beat style and live in Hipsterville.

What sort of tops have you been wearing with them? For a more classic look, I might go for a trim fitting top and/or buttoned cardigan.

My brogue oxfords , purchases about 3 yrs ago, prior to YLF, tan very soft leather, thin soled, comfy cute. No photos on my iPad. When I got them I thought they were going to be a big trend. Not so around here and I almost never wore them. This fall I am trying to work them into my casual, lifestyle. I wear BF, skinniest, crop jeans and pants mostly. I have triied switching then with sneakers, booties, or other flats. Somehow they don,t feel right. Before I purge them, I want to give them another try.
