I always hang my skirts inside out. It prevents the clip marks, but I also like the idea that different fabrics don't rub each other, e.g skirts with some beading or embroidery details against some knitted tops that I also keep on hangers.

I have plastic ones that are like the wooden ones but way cheaper, and I've also found metal ones with rounded clips that have a rubbery padding on them, both for grip and to not snag or leave marks.

I use the two wood pieces-folded-over ones

I also use the wide-two-clip ones that I got at a store closing sale! $2.50 for 100 of them!

I like AJ's and Mo's ideas. I haven't had that issue with my hangers or skirts so far -- maybe I should check, just to make sure.

If its part of a suit, I just drape it over the hanger with the blazer. Most of my skirts I fold and put in a drawer. I actually don't keep that many clothes in a closet as mine is not that big and a lot of it is filled with Indian clothes; most of my stuff is in drawers. I never find that I have any problems with this, except I do have to occasionally iron my more fancy skirts sometimes.

You could also gather up the skirt's waistband at the edges, and so the pinches would be on the inside: picture how men's pants in stores are hung by the waist, but only with your skirts instead. I have a tiered skirt hanger that has rubber tipped clips, so it doesn't leave marks as badly as the plastic or metal clips do.

How about hanging the skirts inside out so that the clip marks are on the inside?

I've also seen some stores take folded pieces of tissue wrap and use that as a layer between the skirt and hanger.

I've always stored my skirts on hangers with two little clips, but I'm tired of the marks that they leave on my skirts. I haven't tried the kind that squeeze two pieces of wood together, but I also don't want to go buy 12 of those. Does anyone just drape them over a hanger? What about folding or rolling them and either stacking them on a shelf or putting them in a drawer? Are there other options that I'm not thinking of?
