I wash everything after every wear, except bras, because I’ve gotten lazier with age. Those I place on a drying rack to air out.
I live in Florida and am also entering the age of hot.

Frankly, it depends on how sweaty I got the day I wore it. (I wear a deodorant but not an antiperspirant, so I sweat more than I used to.) If I got filthy sweaty, then it's dirty and into the hamper with it. If it was moderate, or I never got all that hot, I spritz underarms with vodka and hang to air in an open area in my closet. Then I hang it back up, but with the hanger backwards. That way I know what should be washed when I gather clothes for laundry next time. (I only do laundry every ~3 weeks so this is useful.) I'm still coming up with a solution for folded clothes, though. In my experience, clothes on the chair/side of the bathtub/closet ladder don't get put away, they just accumulate more.

I put my toppers (jean jackets, chore jacket, blazers) back in the closet after wearing. My jeans and bottoms get folded or hung up. I put my T-shirts on their hanger inside out and put it on a hook outside of the closet for the night. In the morning I put them inside the closet. My sweaters get aired out for the night before I fold them in the drawer.

In the summer, I hang clothing on the line outside for an airing. That works the best. I wish I could do that all year long.

It used to be the back of a chair or the guest-room but recently a clothes moth issue has crept up, so anything worn but getting used again before a wash, goes folded into a gallon storage bag to keep it safe!

My collection of lightly worn stuff was getting a bit out of control so now I hang most of them on the back of my bedroom door and I make sure to go there first for tee shirts and other casual/lounge clothing. Nicer items are ‘clean’ and go back in the closet. Gear I didn’t sweat in goes back in the drawer. This system is working better than having stuff in various piles around my room.

I've called that stuff "clirty" ever since an embarrassing discussion on Apartment Therapy where someone had to spell out name for "not quite clean or dirty" clothes to me. I wouldn't want to put them back in the closet, because there is some minimal body oil, etc on them. Even if it isn't enough to be a problem right away, I don't want it to stay there all year. There is no way I'm going to do an end-of-season wash or anything like that, pulling clothes from the closet to wash. I hang them up/put them on their shelves when they are clean. I have enough to remember without a file in my head for "stuff in the closet that isn't quite clean".

My mom always joked about my "clothesline", because I draped this stuff over the (fairly high) footboard of my bed. These days I'm using this guy, but eventually I'll put a row of hooks on a wall.

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/g.....-30219455/

Where ever it is, I tend to get a little collection going, an on-the-fly mini capsule of whatever is working right then. The tricky part is recognizing when it's time to pull stuff and wash it even though it isn't dirtydirty. I need a prompt like Cardiff Girl's stack falling over. If things stay there all year until the next time their season comes up, I could've just put them back in the closet.

Anchie, I'm curious what your "pull out valet thing" is.

If something is clean enough to be worn again it is clean enough to go back to closet I hang almost all my clothes and when I return home I immediately change to my lounge wear and put the worn clothes back on its hangers but leave it on pull out valet thing overnight before returning to closet.
I have a running joke with a good friend- she is really curious how my pleated skirt will handle the washing and every time I wear it she asks me how I managed to keep the pleats in place. And my answer is always the same- don’t know, haven’t washed it yet I don’t think I will wash it until I spill food in my lap.

If a garment doesn’t need to go in the laundry, I hang it up on my shower rod to air out overnight. I will usually mist it to smooth out any wrinkles. In the morning it will go in the section of my closet where I hang worn clothes.

I don’t like to hang clothes in my closet that are still warm from body heat because it introduces moisture.

When I take my clothes off at night, I usually drape them over the side of the dresser to allow them to air out overnight. The next day, I put them back where they belong, whether it's on a hanger in the closet or folded in the dresser.

On laundry day, I do a quick run-through of my closet and my dresser with an eye for anything that looks like it needs refreshing. The sniff test is also helpful. With things like jeans, I can usually remember whether I've been wearing a particular pair a lot, in which case I will launder them to unstretch them. I have a medium-sized closet, so I don't often lose track of what items I've been wearing.

Good question! Everything goes away or in my laundry bag. Hang up dresses and wash every two or three wears. Always wash work wear tops after 1 wear. Two washes per weekend, one dark one light, my stuff only, cold wash, 40 mins. Take out straight after. Dry outside. Iron the 2 or 3 items that need to be, everything else back in it’s place. It’s taken me a long time to get quite so organised and I’m so thankful for the wisdom of ylf in getting me to this stage.

At the end of the day, I just fold or hang back up my clothes together with the clean stuff. I almost never just put stuff in the laundry after 1 wear.

I let things air for a day. Hang hanging things back, fold folding things inside out and put them back in their drawer/ shelf.

I’ll often hang something up on a hook behind the door overnight just to air it out, and then hang it right back in the closet. If I think I’ll get one more wearing out of something then I’ll reverse the hanger so I know to put it in the laundry after the next wear. I have a small wardrobe though, and it’s easy to keep track of what’s what. For bras, I hand wash them in the bathroom sink when I take them off, then hang to dry overnight. It takes about 30 seconds. Not that I’ve timed it lol.

Once I've worn it, I consider it "used," and don't let it mingle with the clean. I usually hang it on a rack in the laundry room until I'm ready to wear again. Or on the back of the closet door if there's room.

I'm of the Murph-school also. It's either clean or dirty to my mind and either gets put back away or put in the dirty wash hamper. I have never even thought about it before, interesting to read different methods.

I have a stool with a massive pile of worn clothes on it at the moment. When the pile falls over I go through it and allocate to laundry bin, back on stool or if it’s a jumper or jacket it goes back into storage unless it’s genuinely dirty.Like you I do not feel that this is a satisfactory way to deal with laundry so am taking notes on this post,
