Oh! You must have posted at the same time I did Taylor. I am trying out the relaxed zigzag today in wet hair (things just stick better when my hair is wet). The real test will be wearing it out on a windy day!

I freaked out a little yesterday when I noticed my hair is thinning slightly around where i usually part it! When I flipped my hair to the other side, it looked thicker and I didn't have as many baby hairs. I'm thinking of switching sides now, or at least on occasion. My bangs have been driving me crazy for a long time now and I regularly pull and tug at them to get them to stay in place while they grow out, so I think all the pulling has caused a lot of stress and breakage in that area.

Aha! The penny dropped. I have short choppy layers which is why my zig-zag parting works.

But I get what Taylor is saying too. Try an unstructured zig-zag parting too, Maya. Taylor is flying over to show you.

Those are far too structured..just pull some random pieces from one side to the other...it shouldn't lie flat.... but rather loosely...does that make sense? It should work just fine on your hair

I have tried a zigzag part, but a) I can't keep it in place and b) I end up with something more like this: http://media.photobucket.com/i.....g_part.jpg

Than like this:

http://cdn-write.demandstudios...../34081.jpg

So, it doesn't really make my hair look any fuller, it just gives me a zigzagged line across my head. I like how yours looks Angie...no visible line or anything. It makes your hair look nice and thick! Mine just looks thinner because it draws so much attention to the part.

My hair has natural parts in certain places. I find that styling a new part takes a certain period of "training" time. Have you tried blow drying the part at the end of where you want the part to end straight up/back? I think that if I did that for a couple of weeks religiously, I could get mine trained- maybe yours is similar?

I don't really mind the side that it's parted on. I just wish the parting was shorter and didn't go all the way back to the crown. It makes my hair so flat!

Fathenry, I do use products but sparingly because even so-called volumizing products weigh my hair down if I use too much. Plus my hair tends to absorb anything I put in it like a sponge, which makes it difficult to wash out and prone to buildup.

I've always parted my hair on the side, the same side for years and years. But, I was just at the hairstylist's yesterday morning, and he was suggesting I try parting it on the other side once in awhile. Interestingly, I could see that when he parted the hair on the 'wrong' side my hair had a lot more volume and body. When I part it on the usual side, it tends to just lay there, flatly.

Currently sitting here puttering away online, but with my hair parted on the wrong side. It hasn't driven me batty yet, but it is kind of odd-feeling.

Hi Maya, I like your hair and your outfit in the pic! I think there is such thing as a natural part, which is the way your hair likes to fall.

I like to part on the side or the middle. If I have a section that doesn't want to stay after my hair is dry I gently tease that section with the brush and then gently brush it the way that I want it to go.

Do you use any styling products?

I never really noticed it until I brushed it back one day and noticed how much thicker it looked when the part was only a couple of inches in. Then I forgot about it until I saw Angie's party suit formula and really liked her broken part. I know we have a similar hair texture, so seeing her "seamless" hair intrigued me. But I think my hair is too long for that.

I usually part my hair far off on the side in the front, and then angle it so it ends up closer to the center in the back (I think that's what you mean by asymmetrical). If I go all the way to the middle, it makes it very flat in the back. I'm really bound to what my hair wants to do naturally, which means I can't part it too dramatically or I get hair in my face, nor can I part it too much to the center, or it looks flat. It's trickier than you would think.

I also noticed that changing the part makes it look fuller, but it's only temporary. Once my hair gets used to the new side, it will settle down, so it doesn't seem worth the awkwardness. I have these super annoying baby hairs at my hairline, so I try to part my hair in a way that conceals them but it never works! It's part of the reason I have always felt compelled to have bangs, whether I actually liked them or not.

Yes, I probably do think about this more than anyone else...but isn't that always the case?!

I'm always intrigued by how tiny little things nobody else ever notices bug the heck out of us. :-)

Your hair is beautiful and I don't notice this at all.

My hair has been parted on the same side since I was 12 or 13. Because of my head and forehead shape, and cowlicks, I look very strange with it parted in the center. Every now and then I try parting it on the opposite side - and it looks great. Much more full, and less ... well, they are kinda like balding/thin spots, near my forehead, probably from having my hair perpetually parted in the same place. Except I can't stand the way it feels when parted on the "wrong" side. I'm sure I could ultimately train it to part on that side, but it seems like too much hassle and bother.

When I can pull it off, I like making an asymmetrical part. I'm not sure why this works on some days, and not on others. But I love the effect. Have you tried it?

I just had a haircut so I won't be able to ask my stylist about this any time soon...

It really frustrates me that my hair naturally parts all the way to the back of my head, and that the part is so visible. I have tried blowdrying it differently but it always ends up falling back within a few seconds.

You can see it clearly in this picture from my YS review:

http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....G_2224.jpg

I don't know if there is anything I can do about it or if I just have a weird head shape...
