I have repurposed a hanging belt rack for the necklaces, and covered a piece of foam core with batting and fabric and hung it behind the necklaces so they don't bang on the door any time it's opened or closed. The earrings are all on a sheet of plastic embroidery backing (kind of like the window screen idea, but bigger), which is attached to the door with binder clips. I don't want to bunch them up to fit into any compartment or box.
