Sara, thank you for sharing your zip-loc system. It's a great idea for finding things quickly and knowing what you have.

April that's a nifty idea for socks!
I'm going to work on the ziploc bag storage plan today.

I only hosiery separated in labeled drawers by color, but I'm loving the Ziploc idea.

Here's one for socks: I buy little plastic devices made for the visually impaired (like these: http://www.amazon.com/Thick-So.....38;sr=8-10) You push both socks through the space in the center when you throw them into the hamper. The socks stay together in the washer, dryer, and drawer. No need to sort or fold them, ever -- you'll always pull out a matched pair.

I keep my leggings in my jeans drawer, and my stockings sorted in their own drawer by color (black and nude in the summer, and tons of tights in the winter).

Hi Sara and Lisa, this would work really well for me. The labels are key! If I do this then I can keep them in a couple of shoe boxes--thanks for a terrific solution!

I do something similar, I have ziploc bags labeled with a color and put that color in the bag. Then I can just grab a bag to sort through. The ziploc bags are kept in a box in the closet.

Hi, Sarah (nice name - I just recently got tired of trying to figure out what was what in my drawers and got freezer ziplock bags - quart size for stockings and gallon size for leggings. I took a Sharpie (so I don't need glasses) and wrote in the frosty box on the bag the brand and the style (i.e. Oroblu black micro fishnets, or Loft cropped legging - button trim, or DKNY full leggings with sheen - that part was always surprising me). It works really well for me.

The bags are nice quality and haven't snagged any stockings (yet?). I fold the leggings and shove them in, I roll the stocking over my hand before they go in their bag. The hosiery is in one drawer, the leggings in another. I can sort through easily. Plus by having the item described on the bag I remind myself of what I have to choose from!

(Edit after Lisa's post - to clarify - that I have just one pair of hose/leggins in each bag.)

I found that mine got snagged in drawers and hanging space is too valuable to use the hanging. My solution is a clear plastic box on the closet shelf. In cool/cold weather the box is on a low shelf right under the hanging things. In summer it gets moved to a high shelf to be replaced by a box of summer handbags.

ahh, I see...
are you looking at the drawer or hanging one? I could see easily labeling the pockets on the hanging one with address labels. After a while of keeping them in teh same pocket you would automatically know where they are and not even have to read the labels. You could probably label the drawer ones easily as well. just stick the label toward the top of the section where it is visible.

Thank you! I guess I could label the cubbies? Part of the problem is all the black tights, etc. look the same when they're rolled up!

Help! My stocking drawer runneth over! Since I've been reading YLF I've added micro fishnets and leggings to the numerous tights I already owned. I'd love to be able to reach in a grab what I want the first time. Currently it takes me several tries and the drawer winds up in worse shape. How do you gals do it? Does anyone have a great idea they'd share with me?
