I have a plastic chest of drawers in my closet where I keep socks, tights and stockings. Socks are in the two shallow drawers, standing on their sides like file folders so I can see all of them. Tights are in another drawer, sorted by color in gallon ziploc bags so I can see them. I fold them before they go in and try to keep them that way in the bags. The ones I can only wear under pants or boots don't go in a bag; they just get rolled. I only have a few like that. Stockings are in a separate drawer, also in clear bags.

i use laura's method, and i have separate drawer of socks that are waiting for their mates to return! love meredith's idea of using plastic cups, that way if don't maintain the organization i would feel bad about having wasted any money.

I roll my tights but my collection is pretty small since I stick mostly to black with different opacities, patterns, and textures. I grab them mostly by feel when I am getting dressed.

Staysfit - Marie Kondo says to do the tidying all at once, but she also says for most people that will take about 6 months. That makes me feel better.

This post is brilliant. This us an ongoing problem I have and it drives me insane. All my tights are in a big basket and I just paw through it to find tights and sometimes this takes way to long in the morning. Today I will have a new system. Thanks everyone.

I use zip lock bags labelled with masking tape/ sharpie so I can put brand and size ( the size is not always on the hose tag and the size range varies with brand, or sometimes size up for fleece with pants), fuzz issues , color of hose so I'll reorder correctly; also I have some footless or mid- leg items so labelling makes it easier to find.

I wanted to add that I used to use one of those drawer dividers with small compartments, but I realized that i wasn't wearing leg wear enough for it to take up such prime real estate as that drawer. Now I use the divider for (mostly) silk scarves rolled in each section. It is nice to be able to see them and get to them easily.

I use a multi-compartment drawer organizer that divides up the drawer into several small little lozenge-shaped compartments (similar to this). I roll the tights so they fit into the compartment. Then I organize them by shade and thickness. This doesn't work for the heavy knit ones because they don't fit, but I only have a couple of those and keep them folded in a separate drawer.

I use cheap plastic shoe boxes that stack on a shelf in my closet under the hanging clothes. I have a box for black and grey, one for nudes, and one for knee highs and trouser socks. Those with a snag or fuzzed areas I tie a loose knot so that I can immediately see that they need pants or another layer over them. I try to put the knot at the bad area. Every once in a while I need to check to see if I have too many defective ones or need to buy new fishnets, for example. I have a small ziplock of navy insight he black/grey, but the bag keeps them separate. They have not been worn for ages and should probably be purged.
Congratulations on all the organization.

I have some plastic drawer dividers I got from Bed Bath and Beyond and use them to divide up the drawer where I have tights. I store the tights and leggings in one compartment and then other stuff in the rest. Maybe you could have one compartment for "fuzzed up" tights and one compartment for pristine ones?

Great suggestions ladies! Keep 'em coming...I can't be the only person on this forum to struggle with the issue.
Staysfit - HA HA, yeah, no way! I kinda let that advice go, but once I started, I couldn't wait to continue. The momentum/thrill of going lean kept me engaged, that and I could focus since I had time off from work. I even tackled the last thing, old photos, and most went to the trash after being re-photographed for a digital reproduction if desired.

I read the Kondo book after seeing your link suggestion and loved it. I'm working on my house and even though she says to do it all at once, there's no way I have time! Did you manage that?

Regarding my leg wear, I roll mine and store it on its side so I can see each individual pair. I rarely get the fuzz problem anymore. I use band aids on the insides of my zippers at the points where I used to get the fuzzy snags. I divide my drawer so it goes light to dark, light weight to heavy weight in each category.

I store them in three tier plastic storage drawers in my closet. My leg wear and leggings fit into one drawer along with a box of band aids so I remember to use them when I wear something with zippers; I keep layering tees in the second drawer; and swim suits, goggles, my gps watch, sun hats/visors and the stretchy hip purses I wear when I run in the third drawer.

Even though I rarely ever wear my tights/stockings these days, they're neatly organized in a drawer, by way of a couple of fabric-lined drawer divider units -- I think I got them in Target or Home Goods. Each little compartment is the perfect size for a rolled pair of tights or hosiery, and the fabric lining means that they never get snagged on a rough edge of the wooden drawer or hardware or anything like that. I could see adding a little label to each compartment to indicate color, opaqueness, or state of fuzziness. ;-)

Which reminds me, I should tackle that drawer and see if there's anything I can get rid of. I barely use the darn things anymore! Do I really need 10 pairs of black tights??

I use a combination of ikea plastic dividers and shoeboxes in my drawers to keep things organised. Tights and hose I roll into balls and organised by colour and thickness and I have a section that is for those which are 'pants only'. (i.e. the're too fuzzed for wearing under skirts without boots).

I have also used ziploc bags with labels in the past where I have had 'special' pairs that were otherwise hard to identify (navy looks soooo much like black in the gloom of a winter's morning). Now days I pretty much stick with nude or black so it is more about identifying the thickness and whether they are skirt/dress worthy versus pant worthy.

I really just organize by color and keep my navy things on the other side of the drawer than black or I end up wearing the wrong color. You could put them in plastic ziploc bags with pics of the clothes they go with if you are trying to organize them by outfit. Just take a pic of the dress and print out on the printer. I do this with my shoe boxes so I know what's in them.

I'm soooooooo organized right now! Went stem to stern in the house over the holidays and am feeling really superior, lol. I read Marie Kondo's book http://www.amazon.com/Life-Cha.....f=sr_1_1?s and found it to be useful, BUT, I still have a gap. I can never find the right tights/hose in my stash when I decide to wear a skirt. It's not really even about color so much as the fact that some have been worn with boots and are "fuzzed up" (for lack of a better term) around the zipper or other areas that rub. To be honest, I haven't spent an inordinate amount of time developing a program for this issue, but it occurred to me that maybe one or more of you had. I would be much more likely to wear my skirts/dresses if I had a plan...the last one I wore, I got the bright idea to hang the tights on the hanger with the dress, which works for thick tights, but would probably lead to runs with hose. HELP!
