What Jennsaid. I do it all the time and it works beautifully.

I am especially cognizant of returning quickly during NAS as several pieces I returned would sold out.

When I had multiple orders and returns, I printed out 2 copies of each packing slip. One I marked up with definite returns and 'maybe's' in colored pens over a 2 month period. The other I kept in my Returns folder as a temporary action until they were credited back to my account. I couldn't stay organized digitally, but on paper and with colors it was easier for my poor brain to see at a glance.

I wish vendors would keep the IDENTICAL format used in confirmation orders for the packing slip format. How hard is it to add another column showing what items in multiple shipments are included from the original order???

A few months ago I bought a ton of stuff - dresses, a bunch of tops, and a skirt. It was very hard to keep track of them since they were on several different orders, and there were multiple sizes of the items. Wow, it was really confusing. I went back to my emails and on a piece of paper wrote down the order number and the item numbers, sizes, and a general description. Then I was able to combine the returns into one or two boxes. I had no problem with the returns.

ETA: I also totaled up to have a general idea of how much I should be refunded by order.

Ditto on what Jenn does. Even if I use the packing slip that came with the item I still "return" it on line so that it shows returned in my order. Then I figure if the return gets lost or something they can see that I did intent to return it.

I mix all the clothes from different orders in one box to return and I never fill out the return slip. I make sure each item is still inside its plastic bag that has the sticker with the order number/bar code. I use any of the shipping labels on the outside of the box.

Never had an issue.

I do what Jenn mentioned, but I only learned about this option recently when I was on the phone with customer service making an exchange. It is so much easier that trying to write all the info in the tiny boxes on the return slips. I wonder if the people who handle the USPS returns can even read most of what it scrawled in those boxes?

Oh - did not realize about what Jenn said, but that makes total sense! I will remember that for next time. I am with you, Peri. I like to return definite "no's'' immediately in order to limit the drag on my card ... and there's no convenient Nordstrom for me -- closest is an hour+ away, which is just too far.

Thanks Jenn and Colette, that's brilliant! I didn't know about that option and it totally solves the problem. I can return the definites and hold on to the maybes for a bit. Jenn, I know what you mean...I do think I have plenty of shipping labels! It was mainly the return form I was concerned about "using up" too soon.

I usually return in store but I believe you can print a free shipping label for additional returns from the customer service section.

On your orders page on the Nordstrom site, you can select items to return and print return slips and shipping labels. So far, I've found that I've gotten things split up into enough packages that I always have boxes and labels I can use to send things back, so I just select the proper items online, print out the correct return slip, and send things as I decide.

Specifically, when you have things that arrived in one box and some are maybes and some are definite returns?

I want to send things back ASAP so I don't end up owing more on my card than I'm actually keeping. But in one box there are returns, but also something I want to wait and compare a different size on. If I send the definites back, I don't have the packing slip or the shipping label to use if the maybes decide to go back.

Any advice?
