I was able to fit a small little cabinet with 3 shelves at the back of my closet and that's where my purses live. I keep the original stuffing in each purse when I'm not using it. I like having my purses closed off and tucked away so dust does not accumulate and being able to open the two cabinet doors and seeing everything at one glance is nice.

I'm seriously pressed for space, no room in the closet, or on the back of any doors (that's where my shoes, hats, gloves live). I also don't really want to see my purses and stuff hanging out in the open on a coat rack or anything like that. It would make me feel like I'm living in a closet. I can see how you might be able to do this if your space was larger than ours is. But our rooms are small... so no way around it, I'd feel like I was living in a walk-in closet. :-(

So my purses are kept in a dresser in our entry way (which we don't actually have... we have a living room; the dresser is near the door, so I call it an entry way because that sounds fancier). They are admittedly all a jumble, but I do keep them in felt bags to protect them, and it sure makes it easy because they are near the front door. The space is limited so it forces me to do frequent culls.

I fear what would happen if I had unlimited space... hee hee...

Even if you can't attach anything to your walls, you can use 3M Command hooks. It's kind of hard to describe how they work, but they are quite strong and do not leave any mark, residue, or hole in the wall when removed.

There is a video demo here:
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/po...../how_use/#

I bought five or six of these in the largest size and hung them way up on the inside wall of my closet. I can see the bags clearly, but they aren't taking up space that could be used for anything else.

I don't have a large bag collection -- this works well for a smaller number.

I saw an interesteing idea the other day (sorry can't find the link). Anyway, they took regular shower curtain hooks & hung the purses on those on your regular rod in the closet...

The few I'm starting to accumulate I keep on the bottom hooks of a very large peg rack that spans about 8 feet. Works wonderful!

I use a hanger on door that is similar to one Angie posted. For a few heavier bags, I had hubby put a row of pegs on wall of closet.

I use newspaper stuffed into a knotted plastic bag. It does require a bit of effort, but if you want to keep things looking tip top and neat like I do, it’s worth the 10 extra seconds.

Does the stuffing really work ? I mean, I'm afraid that I would find it a drag to take it out and put it back again each time... and what do you use ? Newspaper ?

I hang the bags in current rotation (usually 3 a season) in our coat closet and keep the out-of-season bags in a plastic box on the top closet shelf. Evening bags are with my beaded belt and glitzy scarves in a plastic shoe box on the closet shelf. I don't have many bags.

I have mine in a row at the bottom of my closet. I have a very large overnight tote in which I keep all bags that won't lose their shape by being stacked together, then a few more laid out beside. They fit perfectly under my hanging dresses and shoe organizer.

In the past, an old style coat/hat rack stand in my closet worked great for me in limited space. Now I have hooks all around my closet above the top shelf.

Boy, I'm in exactly the same situation. I can't spare any more shelf space so they are all smooshed in a sad pile.

The only solution I can think of is hooks - either a rack of hooks installed on a wall (not an option where I'm living) or a rack that hangs off of the door (which I removed because it badly scratched up the doorjamb.)

My available storage is completely tiny so I'd love to hear what advice you receive.

Any advice on how to store handbags ? Mine are in a pile upon a shelf, and are getting on my nerves... especially because they are so floppy when empty, and won't stand straight ! They are all disappearing underneath one another... and I don't have endless shelf space !
