As everyone has said, that is the female shape. To avoid being a squished, lumpy sausage... good tailoring, good materials... linings, good knits, silky materials... doesn't have to be expensive. You can find well done items even in Rainbow. It just takes a lot of looking and rejecting...

I think the right rise on jeans and pants makes a big difference. I think an inch too short gives muffins and an inch too high can look wrong too. The sweet spot varies but I know where mine is now although I have a different shape to you.

You have a lovely shape. I recommend paying attention to fit so you can make sure your clothing does not let your figure down.

Spanx brand and type shapewear typically comes up pretty high, to avoid cutting in and creating a muffin. But not all shape wear does--they have control panties that come up to a normal panty height, and that may make you feel more confident. I see what you are saying--you do not need an even smaller waist, you need a smaller body in your lower belly. You may need to go experiment with shapewear someplace where they have multiple options, and take the time to slip clothes on over it. Having extra where you have it is sometimes a problem for women who have had multiple babies in a single pregnany, and I wonder if that community may offer some solutions.

In terms of fashion, dressing to distract may be a good option. Try on a flowing top with a band at the bottom or elastic. If the top fits you and hits at the right spot, I have found this to be quite flattering. I see tops like this sometimes at Loft. Fit and flare applies to tops, as well, I have seen A-line sweaters and tunics this season. These would show off your waist and bust and small hips and skim over your lower tummy.

I've considered shape wear but do they have to include the waistline? Because idk if that would exaggerate things.

At modgirl That's my usual style I prefer legnthy sweaters like that with skinny jeans. But a little less roomy at the waistline because I easily get a boxy look. But other than that that's what I normally wear.

You know, you really have got a very normal and fine figure and I really think that you're getting bogged down in details and not enjoying what you have and enjoying style. Take a look at some of Angie's blog posts for outfit ideas. Try jeans with a skimming fit, try a little semi-tucking with loser shirts and knitwear, get some fab shoes and enjoy fashion!

Thank you for your replies and advice and compliments.

My hips are actually quite slim. Sadly they're too small for my belly roll. They're 35" but look about the same size as lower tummy in some pants it doesn't look that bad because the whole thing can be assumed to be my hips I guess. When I see it it looks like a roll of fat maybe because I've seen myself undressed so I automatically think it's my tummy. Without clothing it looks like a roll of fat in tight jeans it spills out and I have to wear long shirts so it's not so bad.
https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcd.....2765_o.jpg

The way I hold my weight is in my boobs and then lower tummy and then my calves. My hips thighs and bum stay pretty slim.

You really have a fantastic figure!

Higher waist jeans and pants, and experiment with underwear that smooths instead of cuts. I have learned to look on the inside of pants and jeans. If the pockets extend to and are sewn into the zipper, I know they will hold me in and give me a better line. I also have some jeans from Chico's that are not only made in this way, they have additional engineering to help this problem, and that may be worth a look even if Chico's is not your typical place to shop. You may also have some luck with the line of clothing at White House Black Market that has shapewear built into the garment. I have a skirt from that line that works very well for me and is actually comfortable.

I know a woman with a similar build to yours, and she has a beautiful collection of fit and flare dresses that look fantastic on her.

I agree with the others who are saying that this is not a figure flaw that needs to be hidden or dressed around. What you are seeing is a normal woman's body. You have a lovely figure -- freely wear whatever you'd like.

I really think this is a case of us seeing flaws that others don't. The photos show a beautiful woman with curves! The measurements you give for lower abs is the beginning of the curve for your hips which is very normal. No worries you look wonderful!

Hi Nickie! If you can move more toward tops that have some ease, this issue will completely go away... think about a loser fitting statement sweater over skinnies and booties, or even tunic length blouse or plaid shirt would do the trick. Have fun some fun with the new styles that are coming out this year. I only wore form fitting, bomshell type clothes for a long time, but now I am having fun experimenting with all different kind of silhouettes that were previously out of my comfort zone.

The "pouch" is a part of being female and very few body types don't have it unless they are very fit (athletically) or low-weight or underweight. Yours is practically non-existant- you have a lovely figure with nothing to hide.

My biggest problem spot is my lower tummy. it's always proportionally big for the rest of me the smallest was when I had a 24" waist line and 29" lower waistline. So in any clothing I was wider with more fat there. Nowadays though I've gained weight and am mostly happy with my weight. But that area has now become a muffin top with lovehandles and an extra spare tire but my waistline has stayed smaller. It's about 25-26" waist with 33" lower tummy. It causes a lot of problems because when I wear form fitting clothing first thing people will notice is the extra weight there it makes my waist look bigger than it actually is it makes my bust look less prominent especially from the side and they look bigger than my hips. I like highlighting my curves but I don't like bringing that to the forefront. Advice?
