Thank you for the input.
Even though it’s winter lately we’ve had rainy days in the 40’s so with the warm socks these would be warm enough. Maybe in light rain they would be ok but not a downpour.

Rain boots fit kind of like that, yeah... you can also get an insulating sock that takes up some of the room if you like.

I find they are a bit like Kkards says. Unless your winters are really mild and you find the right kind of insulating sock, they don't really keep you warm enough in winter. On the other hand, if you are tromping through major puddles on the regular, there's nothing better.

I think for rain boots they fit fine. But like SarahD8, my experience with rain boots was mixed. Yup they kept my feet dry, but honestly in the cold weather they made my feet feel cold because they weren’t insulated. If you want to wear them in the winter, I’d think at getting rag wool or other warm socks to layer under them.

Mine are knee high, Sarah so I don’t have the problem that you are describing which sounds like a total bummer.

Hmm, I will be the spanner and say that if they seem too wide for you they probably are. I bought a pair of shorter rain boots a couple of years ago and found it very uncomfortable to get rained on inside the boots! (I think a little extra width is not as much of a problem with knee-high rain boots.)

I think that is how rain boots normally look. Mine have more space than yours but when I really need to wear them I am happy that I have them.

They look like they fit well. Black rain boots are classic and very functional. A friend of mine has navy rain boots which always look very nice with her denim jeans if you are looking for an alternatively colour that is not too out there or bright.

Rainboots are kinda just like that. I’m not sure you’d find better at a reasonable price. I wear those boot cuffs to fill in the gap when it actually rains.

I don't know much about rain boots, but to my eye, these look fine--not too much space at the top at all.

I’m trying to find new boots and these rain boots were the only pair in my shoe size to try on.
I know my jeans should be longer to wear with these, but besides that I know rain boots are supposed to have a little room on the top, but do these have too much open room? If I size down I couldn’t fit my foot in. Should I buy them or find a different style boot?
