I notice in the advert, which of course looks good, they're styled with a blouse that's very bright and clear, color-wise. I notice also that the blouse (as well as the jacket over it) is rather romantic - you've got floaty-ness, flounce at the cuffs, fur at the neck.

I think your #5 and #12 are heading in that direction. But maybe something other than a knit top. How about a pull-over cardigan?

Sigh thank you lovely ladies they are beautiful trousers looking back at these photos I'm not sure I really like any of them. I think the problem is that they are quite a departure from my normal style and I don't really own anything that works with them. Hmmmmmm need to give this more thought before I give up - might go back to where I bought them & get some help from the ladies in the shop.

I'm not feeling these, sorry. I don't think the fabric flatters you. But then again, you've gotten me accustomed to very high standards with the way you dress... ;o)

I also love the look of these trousers and definitely think you should keep them. Because they have a masculine vibe, I think these type of trousers look best when you can keep the emphasis on the vertical line of the plaid to play up a long, leggy look. I've also found that I need to be careful of the horizontal line created by my top when I wear plaid pants because that line can draw attention to the horizontal line of the plaid at that point.

I can see these with a structured shirt with a popped collar and scrunched sleeves, a tucked top with a longer cardigan or jacket, a longer top with an asymmetrical hem, or, maybe a top with a half tuck.

What a great pair of trousers! I'm drawn to the combinations that have darker tops, such as the one with the cobalt sweater as in #7, 11, and 12.

I think I would not try to match with grey top. Just not working for me. But the inspiration photo uses a black top... I like that idea!

Another thought- Sveta has some new pants in a similar shade? It might be interesting to see what she wears with hers, although they are clams I think....

You've made some good starts. I like the proportions of 4 and 7-8 without the belt. I like them best with a longer top (finding your right longer length is key - the blue top does it for me) and something shorter on top. Maybe a boxy top or jacket over the longer top? They are great pants and I'm sure you'll find the right mix.

You look terrific on these! Absolutely great. I am jealous! I would love pants to fit like this on me!
I like the blue top with cinched waist (7-8) as it shows off your beautiful figure.
Nest the purple top, as it is fun and cute.

I think the silhouette you have going in 3-5-7-8 is the best deal here because it follows your curves beautifully. Whereas a square top such as in 9-10 tends to fight it: it's too straight. It also doesn't end at the right place in my eye.

Great buy!

I like these - I like all the outfits you've made, the only one that I am a bit doubtful about is 9/10 - I think the tucked top with a cardigan over it doesn't look the best. I love 3/4 and 7/8.

I'm not seeing any particular issue with the high rise (I have a long rise body, lol).

Kiwichik, I like them with the darker colours on top as in Pics 7 and 8, where the eye is drawn upwards. I can also see them with longer, tunic-style tops too. Even the lovely berry top might be too short for these pants, because there is quite a lot of grey fabric that draws the eye to your widest part-please no offence intended from a fellow Pear:)
I can see the appeal of these pants, it is a lovely fabric and probably a nice change from black etc. and worth keeping IMHO.

These still have the tags on and I loved them 2 weeks ago when I bought them from the David Lawrence Outlet Store but OMG I don't know how to style them. I don't have any structured jackets and I am finding that the pants have quite a high rise which I am trying to cover . Here are my attempts in order of preference i.e. from best to worst.

Do any of these work or should I give up and return them?

PS the first photo is me in a red wig (ahhh dreams are free).

EDIT Changed photo order and removed doubles.
