Listen to your feelings. Your capsule looks lovely and very you. Olive is always current (thankfully) and easy to find in casual clothes. I don't do pink or blush but I noticed quite a bit of it in the independent boutiques where I live. I also noticed pink (or magenta) and leopard mixed together.

Looks like you ve effectively shopped your closet, well done. Now it depends how much time and money you want to spend on developing a new capsule or just adding a few judicious pieces to your already present pieces.I wouldn’t think that olive will ever go out,it’s a neutral like black and navy.

You could add toffee or even mustard pants to this capsule. I had also planned to wear blush in the fall, but need a blush/ mustard piece to pull things together. Today I am wearing dark navy and blush but it feels more spring than early autumn, even with navy rather than blush shoes and a navy jacket. Listen to your feelings.

Olive better not be "out." I wear a bit of it (chinos, sweater) one or two days a week - it goes with a lot of my stuff.

I don't know if I've ever veered too much - though the past couple of years I've had a strong yen for colorful strips, and have added a few tops. The one thing I'm just not into anymore is Rick Owens-y drapey blacks.

I also meant to say that yes, I have encountered this sort of thing. I wanted to build out my burgundy and teal complements this fall, but it turns out that I am finding a lot of plum — which I had envisioned as a very minor color in my fall palette, but I’m going with it!

Great colours! Olive never goes out of style.

I put together a "sage/blush" capsule last summer that is very similar to yours. Like you, I tend to pair those colours with black, and that combo has become the basis for my current warm-weather wardrobe. I think you could easily throw some light browns or earthy golds in here and pick up on a bit of the prairie/desert vibe that's big right now, and do it with colour instead of silhouette. Also -- you have the perfect hair colour to bookend with light/warm browns, so maybe your dose of earth tones will take the form of a shoe/bag/belt compliment?

That capsule is so pretty Carla. Those colours are all in our shops for spring, I did a circuit of the mall and shops this week. As well as the bronzes and mustards, even for spring, go figure! I'm thinking maybe the same colours trend all over the world whatever season it is and each hemisphere feeds the other.
I don't have a huge plan each season. At some point I will have bought a newer colour to me, sometimes a few years earlier, and if I like it and seem to enjoy wearing it then if more items in it become available then I build up a sort of capsule organically. My plan is more to buy the KIND of items I know I'll wear, the shapes and lengths and so on, and then to a certain extent I let inspiration strike. I'm making far fewer mistakes in 2017 and 2018 with the help of YLF, I've not culled anything I bought since Jan 2017 and all getting worn well except one higher shaft bootie which I do like but which is really an out-to-dinner item which I have too many of! I think I'm doing organised emotional shopping as Angie propounds. I have to love the items or at least know they are useful essentials that will complement/show off the things I really do love.

Haha - the best laid plans!! A few comments-

- olive and pink are not dated
- I think you can merge capsules
- sometimes one piece in a new colour is all you need if the base is neutral- I tend to wear colours with neutrals so I can add just a top or jacket quite happily.
- Not everything has to go with everything.

A flexible plan!!

I ADORE this capsule. I love the colors and the feel of the pieces together. These colors are not dated in the least.

I realize I haven't provided any useful comment though. How are you feeling about these colors today? If you don't care for them as much as you did last year, then redirect your plan.

Very interesting as I have a floral shirt from Simon’s incorporating that green, pink and burgundy in the pattern. I’m looking for some pants to go with... noticed with interest a coupe of weeks ago that Zara had a whole table of pink pants in light to dark shades. Not for me but fun!

I think toffee and mustard will mix VERY well with these items. I could see mustard bottoms working well with almost any of those tops. A mustard top would also be great with the olive pants you are contemplating. Maybe add some cognac footwear (my answer to everything haha) and a scarf to tie it all together!

Oh hey actually! I have a toffee-and-cream lambswool scarf that I don't wear much (it's a little on the short side for me). This might be a little forward of me but if you think it would work with your plans (I think it would look great with a silvery-pink puffer) I would be delighted to send it your way.

If I ever tried to have a plan, this is exactly the kind of situation I would end up in! I'm with Bijou: Wear what you want to wear. If pink and green in an outfit makes you happy, wear them! Shop, but keep an open mind. I do think that mustard and camel will go with those pretty well, and will help keep it more autumnal instead of summery. But above all, don't feel guilty about it. You don't have permission for that. ;)

I absolutely think mustards and yellows can mix in perfectly here. Just yesterday I saw a woman wearing a really pretty printed anorak with jus these colours in them (including mustard) and it was so unusual and striking I was tempted to find out more about it . I also like this dusty rose-y colour.....I saw some home decor pieces in this colour yesterday , albeit in velvet, and it looked so quietly rich.

My advice is to go with your heart. Fashion is there to make you feel good and wearing what you want to wear is the most important thing especially now you are retired, you have no constraints.

I have gone off on a tangent because I fell in love with an item, and that has been the best decision, because I got to wear what I wanted. I think plans are like rules, made to be broken, just think about what colours will spark most joy for you.

A bit of navel gazing (and procrastination)....it is still too hot for me to get fully into F/W, and I'm still doing analysis for fashion direction after a change in lifestyle. I'm working up to a seasonal shop to replenish/update my closet and would like to commit to adding camel/carmel/toffee and mustard yellow to my essentially neutral (black, grey, white, navy) closet. I do have red as an accent.

However, while doing a tidy up of my closet and drawers I discovered a capsule of sorts in mauvey pink and green! In addition to the items below, I have a green leather tote, aubergine leather jacket, and floral backpack that fit the Mood. The t-shirts, shorts, and mauvey sweater are new this summer, but the other items are older. And now I find I'm drawn to adding a silvery pink puffer and olive pants to the collection! (I don't actually have any camel/carmel/toffee in my closet other then a 5 YO leather jacket, and I don't have ANY yellow.)

Are the colours of the capsule below 'old' (olive seemed popular last year)? Should I add to this capsule? Should I move on to a new palette? Do you think the lighter golden browns and yellows I'm contemplating can mix and match with the colours of this capsule (as well as my neutrals)?

I want to add 2-3 warm bottoms, 2-3 warm tops, a jacket/topper, and a scarf or two. Possibly a puffer, vest, or coat. I WILL NOT be adding black, blue, or blue jean (unless in a pattern).

Have you ever had a PLAN, only to veer off on a tangent? Did it work out? Did you regret it? I think my heart is having an argument with my head resulting in fashion paralysis! Advice and insight welcomed.
