I got a pair of clarks sandals and now I just can't seem to wear any other shoes. I've never bought a comfort brand before, usually just buy something cheap from Target (except running shoes...I do like good running shoes), so I had no idea shoes could be this comfortable, honestly.

Hmm, Suz, I am also looking for two inch heels or wedges. Now that I know what you like, I'll have to be more observant. I'd really like to have a pair of red shoes, with a bit of heel.

I loved my heels, then I had the stroke and had to give them up. I learned to love flats, pointy toed, ballet, all of them 1/2 inch or lower. Then last year I hurt my leg and can no longer wear flats them without pain and I am sad. Now I need 1 to 1 1/2 inch heels and I am having one heck of a time finding summer shoes. I hope fall brings a better selection.

I can do anything up to about 1.5". Any higher are not comfortable for me. I have decided to just embrace it and try and find flats I love.

I love the freedom to walk a lot and run a little if I need to, so I very rarely wear any sort of a heel. After years of so many towering stilettos, it's so refreshing to have less punishing options be the fashion! Embrace it, Una -- if anyone can make flats look cutting edge, it's you.

Rae, is it sad that I've given up caring about leg proportion? I am currently in full "functional" mode and flats are really doing that for me right now. I know that wasn't always true and I'm wondering if it's age or something else contributing to my reprioritization....

I am with Suz with true Flatts as my nemesis. to take it further, I tend to trip on my own big feet in flats. I wish they were more comfortable for me! plus I like my leg proportion so much better in at least a little bit of a heel

Yep, so with you. Up to a 1 inch or so heel, and I am okay. Anything past that, and no thank you. My feet and knees are having none of it!

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Talk to your podiatrist, and they will agree

Una - I am so with you on heel height. Being a boot/bootie girl, I love Jeffrey Campbell the everly and Isley booties have a 1.5 in heels, not true flat but low, same with my aquatalia booties. Comfy feet, comfy knees and they look great with everything. Looking to add more in the fall while this windfall of low heels but really interesting booties lasts!!

Yeah, I am totally in the same boat. On Saturday I wore my Fluevog boots (with 2.5" chunky heels) to the museum and my feet were getting quite tired and sore after standing for a couple hours straight looking at exhibits. (Standing is much worse than walking in my experience because my knees lock up in heels.) And in London/Oxford, I mostly wore my Arlettas instead of my granny boots w/ 2" block heel because the balls of my feet were killing me after walking something like 20K steps over the cobblestones in the boots the first day. But I walked 28K steps in the Arlettas and my feet were fine!

So, yeah, I'm not giving up the heels (although I think serious heel wearers would probably say I don't OWN any heels as is - but you know what I mean) but I'll save them for more normal activity days. Generally I do fine in the 2" block heels on a regular day that involves my regular (about a mile walking each way) commute plus lab. I do love the giant Naot platforms I wore yesterday though - they are like 3+" tall but at least half of that is platform.

I continue to alternate, but 90% of the time it's flats or 1" (which for all intents and purposes are flats to me). I just walk too much to unnecessarily subject my feet to heels. Not to mention, I really don't want to shorten my hamstrings when I'm training for a race. But when there is a car involved, I like to put on heels once in a while. These days they are under 3" and happy place would be 2".

This happened to me about ten years ago! I started wearing more pants, rather than skirts, so flats worked. And the job I had at the time required lots of standing, so flats were more comfy. Now I'm a flat wearer all the time! I hardly ever wear a skirt or dress, but if I did, I might have to reevaluate. I have loafers and topsiders but I also have some dressier flats so I'm covered in every situation.

I don't know! My Allsaints studded flats and the Luxury Rebel silver loafers have become my go to shoes for work. The other day I wore a heeled shoe and by the end of the day one of my feet felt injured! Is this how it ends? I don't have foot pain issues generally, but my flats are like the BF jeans of footwear - spoiling me for everything else!

Anyone else find this to be happening?
