Thanks, Diane! I forgot that there would be a hole!!!! I think the pockets are deep enough that my skin wouldn't show, but it would be weird to have the hole there. Maybe I'll give stitching a try (I remember stitching doll's clothes as a tween...)

You could chop of the pocket 'bags' (the bits your hands go in) but you would then just be left with what is actually a hole that your hand goes through so you could just get a needle and thread and do a running stitch along to stitch them shut. To stop fraying you could try some liquid Fray Check along the raw edges.

Dear all, I will trust your collective fashion wisdom on this: I got a pair of H&M pants in beige (these ones). They fit me well everywhere except that the fabric is so very thin, the lining of the pockets shows through no matter what. (I don't think it's a coincidence that the model is wearing the pants with a slouchy fit and her hands inside the pockets--in reality the fit is much tighter, if you buy your own size that is).
I loved the fit (and price) of the pants so much that I bought them anyway, but I can't wear them with the pockets showing through so much.
I am not versed in sewing at all... I was wondering what would be the best fix. I could take them to my trusty tailor to get the pockets cut off and the pocket "lips" sewn shut, but he is a pricey guy and if there's a cheaper homemade solution, I'd prefer it. My first thought was to cut off the pocket lining by myself (the pockets are quite deep and made of polyester). This would mean that the leftover lining close to the pocket "lips" would be left to fray... Are there any potential problems with this I'm not foreseeing? Would the pants come apart...? Or should I go ahead and try this?

The same applies to the back pocket, though I did fix it temporarily by pulling the pocket lining upwards so it rests against my lower back rather than my butt. Not sure if this quick fix would last a whole real day out and about.

Thanks in advance!
