Have never had a professional analysis done but I know that the warmer a color is, the worse it looks on me, so I listen to that.

Although I have long assumed I am a winter, I have never had an analysis done. That said, I more or less agree with Janet on the inductive approach - I wear the colors I like on me and take into account which colors other people seem to respond to more than a winter's palette.

I do think you can get incorrectly categorized. It is subjective. But also, I've just experienced a pretty big change of heart about color analysis in the past week or so.

I had an analysis done years ago and in that system and by that stylist, I was categorized as a contrasting imperial winter. I absolutely do find that I look good in many of the colors in that palette. I shopped according to that palette for years-- and so many times I didn't buy an item I otherwise wanted because there wasn't a color option from my palette.

But thanks to this forum, Angie has commented on a number of my posts over the years commenting how good I look in colors not part of my palette. Recently she suggested a color for me I never would have even thought to try. Right after that, I tried on a coat in a dark olive color that I have likewise avoided and my mind was blown when I could see how flattering that color was for me.

Since then, I've been looking at color analysis posts on Reddit and I'm seeing how to my eye there are definitely people who look good in colors from multiple seasons.

So I think I'm landing in a place where I'm going to be trying lots of colors, from any season and I'm going to buy/wear what feels good to me. Which is what I would have done had I never gotten my color analysis done in the first place!

IMO, if summer colors speak to you, than that’s what you should wear.

I think wrong analyses are common ... Or, let's say, there is such an element of subjectivity to color analysis that it is possible to argue a person fits into multiple seasons. If your gut tells you summer then I'd say you are probably correct. Perhaps you can wear the brighter summer colours particularly well?

I know forum member Staysfit had a couple of colour analyses done and they were different. I suspect people can get it wrong.

I just had one done and got a season I expected although I wondered about three (warm spring, clear spring and warm autumn) - my diagnosis was clear spring and it feels right to me. I also think I can wear most colours in spring, some in autumn, some of winter and a few from summer -but clear spring was the best fit.

I would experiment at home with pieces you have or even looking at cushions or others tees to see if you start to agree or not.

Clear winter and clear spring are a bit similar - I am not especially high contrast - I would say medium contrast - but I can carry off vivid colours.

I recently had my color analysis done and feel like they might have been given me the wrong seasonal palette. She told me I am a Bright Winter but I don't feel like I have enough contrast and enough brightness to my features to fit in to that season. Has anyone had a first time color analysis where they had to get a second opinion or the first opinion was incorrect? My gut is telling me I am a summer season but this Bright Winter totally threw me!
