Thanks Laura! I tried it and it works, I can access the US page to read the reviews. There are a lot more on the US site, this is really helpful. There is 10% off at the moment on the German site. Was your discount code for more? I'll sign up for the newsletter...

I like the pull on ones too! The contrast elastic might put me off, though, if I thought I'd want to wear them with skirts/dresses as well as pants.

Astrid, I'm pretty sure I saw the reviews via the US site, hotterusa.com. Not sure if you can get to it without being redirected from where you are - if you can't I can copy and paste the reviews for you. I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same reviews as on the UK site though.

Speaking of discounts, I'd gotten a discount code with their catalog in the mail, but it had expired while I dithered. Then I happened to visit the website while logged in (they know who I am because I signed up for their newsletter) and the next day there was a discount offer in my email. (I'd share it with you but I'm pretty sure it won't work for the German site.) Maybe they'll do the same for you?

Thanks Unfrumped! Yes, I definitely need more rounded toes, I can't do the more pointy toes, they just don't fit my feet. I do agree that these here look refined enough to go with skirts...

Thanks Suz and Mellllls. I'll think on it.

I like those, Astrid. They are rounded enough to be comfortable-- (I don't find the really tapered-toe styles to be full-on walking shoes) but still have shaping and refinement. I like the idea of using them as a sneaker alternative--worn with pants, you don't have to have quite the same styles that go with skirts--although, with casual skirts and tights, more casual oxfords can still work.

Taking a closer look, it seems that only the red ones are available in the wider width. I could maybe try the red ones in wide and the grey regular ones...Although I probably should make a decision before I order.

Laura, that's funny. Where did you read the reviews? On the German webstore there aren't any. I would like it if they were taupe, sounds like they'd have bookending potential.

ETA

Oh, I just had a look at the UK site (where there are reviews) and found these:

http://162.13.69.180/gb/en/wom.....n/shawbury

Same taupe color. Seems like they have different stock. For the UK there's also a 3 for 2 offer and on the German site it's 10% off.

Ha! - the first, grey ones, are the ones I've actually been thinking about ordering. One of the reviews, iirc, said that they are closer to a taupe than a true grey, if that influences your decision making.

Thanks Diana! In a different pic the grey looks more like taupe, see the pics below. From these I would suspect they would go well with my hair. I do have that ash taupy blonde that can look a bit warm depending on the light. Good point about the laces, I hadn't though of that. I do want comfortable, so the grey leather might be better. That said, patent being more or less waterproof is a bonus point too.

Oh wow! Those are both fantastic. I have flat oxfords that I basically wear as sneakers substitutes in my everyday outfits, so I think this is a great idea.

I like both styles a lot. I have a slight preference for the lace up style because I think you get a better fit with laces. Plus I just adore classic lace up brogues. As for color, I have grey oxfords and find them super versatile. However I hesitate a little about these because to me they look rather warm toned grey. That wouldn't work as well for me, although it might be ok with your wardrobe. Just something to consider. I really like the red patent too. However, if super comfortable is what you're going for I might not choose patent as it tends to be stiffer and doesn't break in the way soft leather does. On the other hand I wear my patent oxfords in the rain a lot because the patent is virtually waterproof.

Laura suggested Hotter shoes in my other thread and while I didn't find boots/booties there I found some great oxfords. I do have a black pair of oxfords already that is rather dainty and that I only wear with hose, not with socks and pants. My only shoes to work with socks and pants besides booties and boots right now are my sneakers. Those are rather worn out too. So there would definitely be room for a pair of new shoes in my wardrobe, in addition to some new sturdy booties or boots.

This is a comfort brand and they look like they really could be whole day walking shoes. The first style also comes in a wider width. Although the normal width might work out too. I'm right between, looking at the size chart.

The first style are classic lace up oxfords. In a grey smooth leather available which would probably be good for bookending or in a rich dark red patent. The second is a variation with buckles, in this case I like the dark red ones best.

http://www.hotter.com/de/de/wo.....product--1
http://www.hotter.com/de/de/Da.....4/Shearsby

What do you think? Are they worth a try, to replace my sneakers as only everyday pants shoes? Which ones would you get? Or should I keep looking for new boots first?

Thanks for reading so far. :)
