Just an update - still doing really well without flashes. Not even one. Taking the ACV every day two times in water, still taking Primrose Oil, Black Cohosh and Milk Thistle along with my usual magnesium at night and vitamin C and sometimes B12 and a few others in the afternoon.

I've also been making sure to get at least 3 days of good exercise in each week.

CocoLion, I'm still in peri-menopause (I think) I skipped last time but have only skipped one other time several months back so far.

This routine has been continuing to work really well for me so far! I am so relieved!

Headaches and stomach upset may mean you need to reduce your coffee for a while? I think your liver may be doing too much work if all I've read is right.

I even can have a glass of wine at night - haven't tested beyond that but also didn't wait for 2 weeks because I felt deprived. lol. I am taking the organic ACV in water 2 times a day and the Black Cohosh, Primrose Oil 2 x's a day while I try to take the Milk Thistle 3x's a day. I have a hunch the milk thistle is quite helpful from previous research and my liver "symptoms" of never being able to tolerate much alcohol. I also always take magnesium glycinate at night. I do take a few other vitamins but not quite as regularly as these.

I don't drink much coffee but do have a cup in the morning sometimes because I think it's actually healthy if it's organic coffee and you don't overdo it. But if I were having flashes again I might skip the coffee for a while.

OMG, I am 54 and starting 1.5 years ago have been experiencing hot flashes. This has been my pattern: I get hot flashes for a few months with no period. Then I get my period again for a few months. Back and forth like that.

Now, since mid-Oct, I have not had a period and am in the thick of hot flashes again. Sometimes I get 4 an hour. Sometimes just one an hour. I get hot and usually sweat a lot too, day or night. Nighttime, the heat and sweat wake me up. Then in the early a.m., like at around 4:30, I usually get one long flash that lasts 15-30 minutes (instead of 5 min.).

I drink a lot of coffee, but not alcohol. I have a fairly good diet and I get exercise every day. At first I noticed, I never get a hot flash while exercising, now that happens too.

Sometimes with the longer flashes I experience headaches and nausea. I have not noticed any mood swings, other than the frustration / anger / embarassment that comes with my very frequent flashes.

Tex, I am going to follow your progress. Please keep us posted every few days to let us know how this works.

(And has your period completely stopped or are you still in peri menopause?)

Texstyle, thanks so much for sharing this. I'm not expecting too much interruption to my life as I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and only have one ovary but at 47 I'm aware of a few minor changes and I believe I had a random hot flash a few months back. I am very interested in natural remedies for all menopausal issues:). My husband swears by apple cider vinegar for a number of things and takes it as you do each day. I will be checking in to follow your progress

I had the first ones a few years back but they were kind of isolated and usually after having too much coffee, too much wine, etc. Then, suddenly a couple weeks ago I started having them every single night where I'd wake up 4 or more times each night just feeling incredibly hot (no sweating but just HOT). Then after about 2 mins. I'd get cold and pull the covers back on. It was really interrupting my sleep.

I'll try to update here once in a while to let others know if it continues to work for me.

Interesting! I'm not there yet (although I think I've had one nighttime hot flash a few months back), but I'm taking notes.

So I *think* I found a solution for hot flashes that works for me and apparently some other women so I thought I'd share FWIW.

I took a multi-pronged approach after researching on a lot of web sites. And so far, so good -- after 4 days on this "regimen" I can sleep through the night again and not have a problem during the day. The first few days I had fewer flashes but still had them. The fourth day no flashes.

First, I gave up my beloved red at night and that seemed to help but not completely fix the problem (at least not in my impatient, sleepless state of mind). SO, I started taking 1-2 TBS of organic apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water 2 times a day. It doesn't taste so good, but it seems to help a lot of things according to many health oriented web sites and I just try not to smell it when I'm drinking and follow up with PLENTY of water. Something about the apple cider vinegar alkalyzing your body. I bought Braggs but other brands are probably okay too.

Anyway, in addiiton I take 2-4 milk thistle capsules (liver support), magnesium (400 mgs or more) and a few other vitamins (B12 methylcobalamin for me, vitamin E, C) AND I added Black Cohosh and Evening Primrose oil supplements.

I already drink plenty of water so I didn't need to change that. I am trying to get more exercise as I read it is important to heat up in this manner to help your body's blood flow and hormone flow.

Once I go for a couple of weeks in the clear I may try a glass of wine just to test. I miss my glass at dinner.

For me this is working pretty well. I hope it might help others!
