I'm not plus sized but pear shaped and most of my tights are either Falke (expensive but worth it, and made in Germany too), Hudson or C&A. C&A is great for inexpensive basic tights that I use in winter to layer under tights with pattern or structure. Although I do sometimes wear them on their own, too. They hold up really well.

Thanks Angie, I'll give the Berkshire a try since I've never heard of those. I already know I don't like Spanx, I enjoy breathing way too much to punish myself with those anymore.

@Sara L. that sounds like a great system and I'm going to use it. Thank you!!

I roll my tights up and put them in ziploc sandwich bags. I use a sharpie to write on the bags relevant information. Since mine are also mostly dark, I write whether they are black, navy, or brown, which can be hard to distinguish in low light. Also whether they are sheer, opaque, fleece-lined, etc.

May I suggest trying Spanx & Berkshire hosiery. The footless style is great for tall boots.

You could keep the sheet of paper and a pen in the hosiery drawer. I also suggest to get rid of all "meh" tights and from now on buy only the right ones. (I did this and it helped a lot to straighten the always -messy underwear drawer!). P.S. An expert sales assistant from a hosiery shop could maybe detect the brand of your beloved tights.

@Gigi thanks, I'll try that out!

@Angie, I don't know! I have a pair that I love but it has no tag in it so I don't remember what brand it is! I keep it separate from all the others so I can wear it a lot but it's hose so it will give out sooner or later and then what!?

This might not be much help in the winter, but I think that microfishnets are great if you have larger thighs. I have larger thighs and find that fishnets don't make me feel like I'm squished into sausage casings.

@Sisi thanks, I will have to try a method like this and be meticulous about it. I'm tired of approaching my chaotic hosiery drawer.

@rachylou but my hosiery is all dark/black. Unless I get a silver sharpie which might be a good idea!

@anne, I do size up but the problem is that the material is very tight and taut against my thighs, but it bunches at my lower calves/ankles.

@jill58 thanks, I'm certain I have a pair of Hue, but don't know which ones they are lol.

I am a pear though not plus size. I love Hue control top opaque tights. They seem to have lots of plus size options. https://www.barenecessities.co.....620&a

I am a pear and I think the easiest solution (I think I got this from Angie) is just to size up - i.e., by the next size up from what the packet says I should.

Sorry I have no answer to question nr. 1 (I am not a pear). But I commiserate: I find it annoying for example that pantyhose waistbands are all horribly tight and dig into my belly.

My solution for problem nr. 2 : I keep a sheet of paper attached to the refrigerator with a magnet and write down all the "OK" products and the "NOPE" products - from yogurt to socks, from tomato sauce to soap. Maybe a naive method but it helps. :)

I am a plus sized pear shape/hourglass. I was recently chatting with a friend who also is a pear shape although she is thin. We were dressing for an event together and were both pulling on tights and we were lamenting on how difficult it is to find tights and pantyhose that go up over our thighs. I thought this was an issue just because I am plus sized, but I have realized that this is something all pear shapes experience.

Has anyone done research to find out which tights and pantyhose fit us? I'd love to wear more skirts this winter and I need tights.

Another strange problem that I have is that I do indeed have some tights that fit, and I mean just a pair or 2. But there are no labels in the hosiery and I can't ever remember where I got them or what brand they are so that I can buy them again. Is there a way to label them or keep track of hosiery? Every time I need to wear a pair of tights I'm ransacking my hosiery drawer trying on everything because they all look alike.
