Diagonal stripes make complete sense in terms of being the most flattering, it is a shame they are hard to find. My curvy striped dress works in a similar way and is flattering because the stripes are not meant to hang straight. I have a rainbow skirt too. Interestingly, for someone who tends to avoid horizontal stripes on her lower half, i reallly like my horizontal striped skirts. Vertical stripes are not always easy either -- if the item is fitted at all, it goes all curvy over the parts of me that curve (i.e., pinstripe pants *can* work if they are not tight at all, and low contrast). But I prefer vertical stripes to horizontal -- they're just not as easy to find, in my experience. When Angie posted, I knew that yes I had stripes, but not much in the way of classic horizontal stripes. I feel that the slightest midsection muffin situation gets amplified and they don't feel as dressy as I would like. I have a Uniqlo t-shirt that I have had for years and another horizontal striped sweater - but the overwhelming majority of my stripes are vertical. </p> <p>I did a search through my Finds and it confirms I am on team Vertical Stripes!</p> <p> </p>
