Alright, I thought you already had business pants... But yes, I would definitely prefer dressier bottoms for an interview. The skirt I wore is not a classic business skirt cut, but it's made out of "suit fabric" (meaning polyester in this case).

I’d like to see how you look in the jackets in 3 & 4. They seem neutral and versatile. Altho, I’d really like to see how you look in a grey blue / blue grey one. That greyish blue is the ultimate work colour to me, esp for Europe and esp for interviews.

Astrid, you mention a “business skirt”. I think that’s why I’m hesitating about the pants. I’m not sure they could dress up as well as “business pants” could go a step down the scale of formality. I really like the black pants. If I can wear them in the office, I will. If they don’t fit in there, I’ll wear them after hours and on weekends.

Sal, which jacket do you mean? Alas, they don’t have those two blazers! I am learning that stores here are separate from others in the same chain, and even from the website. When I called customer service last night, the agent told me that stores report on inventory about twice a week, and if you order something online to be delivered in the store, that’s what will happen—they will send a physical item to the store for you to pick up. Very different from my experience in the US with Nordstrom’s and others, where inventory is updated constantly, and if you order something online to pick up in the store, you can get it two hours later, because they pull it from the store’s inventory for you (even though you’ve paid for it online). Astrid and Joha both suggested stores on this street, so that’s where I am, even though I don’t like it here, because I think inventory might vary widely from store to store.
Sal, you gave me something to think on, whether and how much professional wear I want to get. I do think I need to buy beyond just interviewing needs, because that part of my wardrobe is really super thin. I have a small capsule a size or two lower than I am now, but that doesn’t help much. Also, women here wear blazers much more frequently than I’m accustomed to. I want to get one or two “office” blazers, but others, like the red and the long grey, I think I can wear elsewhere. I def want to get things that will work in with/elevate what I already have. Thanks for getting me to think about that.

Joha, that striped dress is sold out too :/ A black blazer would be a good idea—the one I have is very short, with some kind of elastic or smocking in the back. I don’t think it’s office appropriate, might not work these days at all. Between it not being here and being a different style than I’d get if I find one today, I’m not worried about duplication.

I like the idea of the purple shirt and judging from the picture, the loafers should work well as there seems to be some kind of purple too.

Regarding the first black dress - I bought a similar short black dress from Mango recently and would probably add some black hose when wearing it for an interview.

But as you seem to need toppers - have you tried Uniqlo on Tauentzien? There is the annual collaboration with Ines de la Frassange (French Style Icon) going on and I've seen some great blazers online. The quality of that collection is IMHO exceptional for the price.
Or how about a simple black Blazer? I know it's kind of boring but you said you would need new toppers and the clothes you have on hand now, they often seem to have some black included. The dresses, e.g. The striped one, could be easily dressed up with a blazer as well. And pattern and colours could be added with a scarf or belt etc. or maybe a tweed blazer with a black background color?

From what I've learned it's not always easy to judge a company's dress code by the website. People often use their official passport pics or dress up for the occasion. I think the big picture you posted gives a better impression...

I think the grey or blush jackets could be good - I like the patterned ones but in this instance I would stick to a plain.

I think the black pants and loafers are a good choice - I think a dress can also work.

In similar situations in the past I have had a very very lean wardrobe. I would take it one step at a time with interview clothes - after all you may find it is quite casual when you start.

For me I would wear black pants and black top with the light jacket and brocade loafers (I think they are brocade). I would wear hair tied up and minimal jewelry. That is just me though:)

I just bought a purple top for my own interview that would probably work out well with your shoes: https://amzn.to/2Qr8aB2. It's viscose, but with a nice weight and drape to it. I wore the it tucked into a full black midi business skirt, with black oxfords and patterned black hose for a recent interview. And I liked the purple so much that I also bought the grey. I had a patterned business blazer type jacket to go over it, which I didn't wear because it ended up being really hot that day.

Depending on what kind of job you are interviewing for you don't need to wear conservative boring business looks, but I would stay on the sedate side to be sure (no super loud colours, crazy patterns or very edgy cuts).

ETA I just saw that you already own a similar purple top! I think that would work for sure, if the cut pairs well with pants (untucked or tucked).

Katerina, I think I'll wear those, but it really depends on what you all advise and how things look in the store tomorrow. I think I'd be more comfortable in a dress, if I don't need hose. But maybe we'll come up with just the right combo for those pants that will feel great.

The shell Rachylou suggested works really well under jackets (not so well on its own). Its color is among those in the shoes.

Thanks for commenting!

Fashintern, for the interview, are you planning to wear the black trousers and the loafers you have posted? I can’t see the colours of the shoes clearly, but I would go for jacket 3 or 4 and a simple top in a colour represented in the shoes. The grey jacket might work I think. Also the top Rachylou suggested is great. How does the top look like under a jacket?

The purple silky matte top, loafers, and the trousers and a blazer? Is that doable?

All the ladies seem to be wearing collarless woven or scoopneck knit tops. Lot of jackets/blazers in the pic. I see little pattern and a lot of grey blue.

What do you think of these jackets? I'm heading to Tautzienstrasse tomorrow, as Peek and Cloppenburg online won't take my US Visa card. The original schedule was for half of our things to be delivered in mid-September and half in early Oct, but since we're moving at the end of this month, I've decided to have them hold everything until early Oct.

I think the direction I'm heading is lots of black and white patterns, worn with strong colors--red, deep/bright blue, green, berry colors and occasionally light pink/blush. That works with what I have here and what's on the way.

The pictures here are what I'm thinking of trying on. Are they all office-appropriate? Would any of the blazers work for interviews? I'd love to find a long blazer, but don't think I'd like the ones I'm seeing on the site, because there is no tailoring at all. I don't want to be sexy at work, obviously, but a little tuck in the back would be nice.

My current wardrobe, including the things on the way, is very weak on toppers, especially with structure, and is generally weak on office-appropriateness. (Most of the places I'm looking at working show the men on their websites in suits.) I packed up the fall and winter challenge items as soon as those were over, and popped them into luggage when it was time to move. Pictures in these posts.
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ry-capsule
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....t-cheating
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ly-florida (obviously not the kilt, but yes to the topper I'm wearing with it, the black pants/leggings, the purple skirt and possibly the tunic) The finds in this comment are coming, as are several black and white pattern skirts. Here's a picture of one of them. I really like them all, even though they aren't represented in finds.

Angie, good point about the Free People topper coming off overhead (darn fake tie!)
I’m weak on toppers, especially those with any structure. Not just here, but in general.

If I have to buy something, would this be too short? I’m 5’8.5”, about the same height as the model, and would order 2 sizes larger than she has on. https://www.peek-cloppenburg.d.....ize=40%2C0

I don’t think I have appropriate tops in my collection here (do I?) https://youlookfab.com/finds/c.....ction=6235 even if I added a structured jacket.

Would either of these pairs of pants be appropriate? With the loafers?
