Awesome pictures. I had no idea Hong Kong was so stylish before YLF. What a beautiful city.
Also loved the site showing what people wear. I couldn't help but notice that all of them were quite thin, which I 'think' makes it easier to walk around a city in heels. Ofcourse the very flat/even street doesn't hurt either.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much everyone for your comments! Nothing makes me happier than knowing that you liked it.

Angie, I mainly shopped at Sogo and its vicinities. I only had two half days to shop and that's why I stayed in the hotel in that area. I was looking for brands that we don't have here in the U.S., especially not in Charlotte where I live. Since it's end of the season, there are sales every where, even with non-seasonal items, they were usually 10% off by default, I guess that's the way they do business?

Ana you're so sweet! I went to a wild life zoo in China and took a lot of pictures of giraffes, I'll share them once I get them loaded.

Alecia, welcome! It's funny to hear your experience, I had the very same ones years ago! Most Chinese are skinny, maybe that's why they can sport the high fashion style easily? Anyway my experience this time was a lot better. I wear small here and I got both of my clothes in small there too! I was surprised. However, I was not so lucky when buying swim suit at a hot spring resort convenient store, they only had three in my size and they are "XXXL", ugh! I forgot to pack mine so I had to get it. I started to understand the reason behind the vanity sizing then.

Thanks for the post, Julia. I spent a couple months in HK while I was in college. This post took me back to those days. What an adventure! I had to find a place to live in a weekend on a college student's budget (yikes is all I can say about that place) and had a whirlwind romance. As the typical American college student, I lived in casual wear. I was really intimidated by the high style I encountered but was inspired to try nonetheless. So off I went to find some of the smashing styles I saw. The only problem, I couldn't find any clothes that fit me! (I was probably a size 8 or so at home.) I remember going into shops and having the attendants take one look at me and say, "We don't have anything in your size," with a matter-of-factness that is rare here. I was pretty devastated then, but now it just makes me laugh. I hope you had better luck.

Hooray! I'm so glad you're back home safely and had a great trip. I've been seeing giraffe print on sale everywhere and wishing I could tell you about it! :D

Your daughter is SO cute, and HK looks like an awesome city! I was watching The Dark Knight yesterday and they shot a few scenes in HK and I thought of you. Can't wait to see your purchases--I got a white watch, too, while you were away and have been wearing it every day, it's my new favorite accessory.

Yay Julia! You’re back from my very favourite city. Hope you had a lovely time and get over the jet lag chop-chop. Enjoy your new purchases which we are all dying to see! (Catching a glimpse of Chloe was a treat. She is adorable.)

Thanks for the GREAT report and fab pics. I loved every second of it. I rest my case, Hong Kong is catwalk fashion on the street. Globally, it does not get better than that. The sense of fashion and style is so effortless there, it makes me cry. Everyone looks like they stepped out of Vogue magazine (and this is a commuting society). I LOVE it. Part of me wishes we lived there again.

Causeway Bay is great shopping area. One of my favourite shopping parts of HK actually. I love Sogo and Times Square. I like to shop in Central too. Tsim Sha Tsui use to rank high on my list, but it’s been better. Where did you shop, Julia?

Awesome! Thanks so much for posting this. I love the outfit on the first girl- I never thought I could like those kind of gladiators but somehow she is just working them. It doesn't surprise me that Hong Kong is very fashionable, because probably the most stylish girls I know are Chinese-Canadian (all with their roots in HK... I don't think I've ever known anyone who was a mainlander) and take their style hints from what they've seen in HK.
Can't wait to see your purchases!

Hi gals, I'm back from my month long trip to China/Hong Kong/Macau. What a trip! I have been thinking about YLF all the time when I was there. It was so much fun to watch people on the street and admire their effortless high fashion style. Angie is absolutely right about rating it the most fashionable city in the world!

Here're my observations:

1. Clamdiggers and leggings are EVERYWHERE! worn with tunics or short dresses;
2. Flats and wedges are majorities. I hardly see any flip flops, definitely not the ones with foam bottoms;
3. Metallics are popular, in shoes, bags and on clothes;
4. Lots of skinny jeans worn with t-shirts, but most wearers are young and skinny so I guess that they can get away with the t-shirt look; A lot of logos and prints are seen on the t-shirts too;
5. Also I saw a lot of short shorts on young girls; and I saw wide legged pants occasionally;

Hong Kong is a crowded city with fast paces. The lights lit the streets like day time at night. I took some pictures, I wish I have taken more:

http://s282.photobucket.com/al.....ng%20Kong/

The little girl in the third picture is my ten year old daughter Chloe.

I stayed in the Park Lane Hotel at the Causeway Bay area. I found a website that took pictures of what Hong Kong people wear at the Causeway Bay, I thought that it would be good to show them here so you have a better idea:

http://aimee920.meeli.cn/blog/39521
http://aimee920.meeli.cn/blog/39238
http://aimee920.meeli.cn/blog/38525

I haven't bought much stuff, but I did buy a white watch, a patent bag, a jacket and a short dress. I will post them in another thread.

Thanks for reading!
