Shiny - you're stressing me out just thinking of all those activities! Seriously, I agree you seem to be in pretty good shape wardrobe wise - with Angie's suggestions of course.

These look like great outfits! I already know that the ones you've worn looked fantastic on you. I really like your ideas for the other events.

You certainly have a busy holiday calendar, too! Wow.

You are in good shape, Jennifer. You've already hinted at my additional suggestions:

long sleeved dress to the event in Feb

dressy coat to top it all off

and a metallic clutch

how about some glittery hose?

I'd leave sandals completely out of the equation - you live in snowy and oct Boston.

Looks like we have *at least* nine holiday events this season (counting two that already happened). WHOA!! And it may be more than that, but these are the confirmed ones so far.

My holiday capsule is shaping up though there are still some gaps -- which I don't want to scramble to fill right now because then I may make some regretful purchases. However I am definitely open to suggestions! What I would do for the perfect pair of tuxedo or drapey trousers...

I also need input on

1) Jewelry?
2) Bags - would you do anything differently than what I've mapped out here?
3) Shoes - which ones
4) ... ?

The nine events:

Pic 1

1. Museum gala -- already happened; not shown is the brocade topper. See my WIW's.

2. Thanksgiving - already happened; see WIW.

3. Holiday charity event - this is on a weeknight. Business casual is perfectly fine, as most people come straight from work. I'm thinking I'll rewear the Vince dress, but with leopard booties this time to dress it up just a bit... ? Last year I wore a sweater dress that has gold trim at the hem and on the cuffs - which was perfect.

4. Bachelorette party for my soon-to-be SIL. Her maid of honor is pulling out all the stops, with a limo & a night out at a male strip club. Does this outfit work?? Which shoes?? (Even if it's cold since we'll be shepherded around in a limo, I suspect I can get away with open toed shoes...?)

5. Friend's annual holiday tree-trimming party. It's at their home, but they go ALL OUT with it, and it's expected to glam it up. Pants are fine though, especially because their gorgeous victorian house can be drafty.

Pic 2

6. Annual xmas show - for this occasion, hip/funky/fun is the dress code. I'm thinking the sparkly top again, but this time, more relaxed/casual with jeans & booties. I could possibly also wear my pleather moto jacket over this.

7. Family xmas eve dinner - this is at their home but everyone gets dressed up. Surely it'll be cold. I'm thinking slouchy tunic v-neck merino wool sweater, worn over lace skirt, with tall suede boots.

8. Wedding - which is the day after xmas. Soon-to-be SIL requests that everyone "pull out all the stops and glam it up." It is black tie, but I've learned that most of the women will be wearing knee length, not full length gowns, so I think this dress will be perfect. Just can't decide on the shoes. We'll be inside the whole time - wedding & reception is at a hotel. What jewelry??? Which shoes???

9. Annual "creative black-tie" gala - this is in February. This is an interesting event which is technically "red carpet" but also you can have a bit of fun with your interpretation if you want. For example in past years DH has worn his kilt. One year I wore my moto jacket as a topper. Figure I will re-wear the same dress.... since I don't have a full length gown (which would be perfectly appropriate, but so is knee length... considering there is usually lots of snow on the ground, few women wear full length. I think last year was the first time I spotted a handful of full length gowns in the crowd). The challenge with this event is that it is usually VERY cold, snowy and/or icy... and cold inside too. A topper will be a must, and I may wind up needing to wear the tall suede boots to keep my feet warm. Ultimately a long sleeve dress would be ideal, but it may not be in the cards (I've been looking).

When I lay it out this way, it occurs to me that I very much have justification to invest in a special occasion coat. But I have a hard enough time finding an every day wool coat, so I'm not holding my breath on that one!

Thoughts & suggestions?
