I agree with on the silver jacket as being the top pick of the 3. Because I am such a lemming, I recently ordered the Gap velvet pants too. I love velvet and at 40% off the price was terrific. I was also tempted by the coated jeans but NYDJ doesn't often work well for me. That red sweater is very pretty- simple yet with just enough detail to look special. Love the metallic blazer.  I think it is the most festive for the season, and would be very versatile for a dressy capsule. a red or silver sparkly tank under it with a skirt or pants, black jeans, and over a LBD for dressier functions.  like you I usually buy at least 1 new thing each Christmas season. We usually go to 4 parties, but this year only 2 as there are conflicts and have to choose.  One is casual and the other dressy. These are all great choices. I think the red sweater is lovely because it could be worn with or without a topper. Either way.  I have ordered the Gap velvet leggings and will post about them when they arrive.  I'm tempted by all the BR blazers, also, but won't be buying because I have my Trouve tux jacket from last year's NAS which fits this purpose very well. As well as my cranberry cashmere sweater, for a switch up.  I also wear separates at the holidays; any parties I go to are very casual. I also like the silver jacket. I had a silver jacket a few years ago that I wore to holiday parties, and loved it. Too often holiday wear isn't warm enough. I wore my silver jacket with a black dress and knee high boots and felt pretty good, and warm! I love all your bottoms, especially those velvet skinnies from Gap. Luxe fabrics, lots of texture, and metallic sparkle all put me in the holiday spirit. I think the red top needs a necklace of some kind, but not a topper. Besides family gatherings, we only go to one holiday party each year, but it's a dressy affair held in a boutique hotel downtown. I still look forward to the chance to dress up! Like Angie, I too somewhat lament the casualization of dressing during the Holidays.  But also like Angie I see the added value of buying festive separates.  And I love festive separates!!!!!!!!!   I usually always get a new outfit to wear to Holiday parties (I tend to wear the same outfit the entire Holiday season because only a handful of people attend the same parties as me).  I used to buy a dress/heels, but those days are long, long gone.  I couldn't even imagine going that route today.  I also rarely had the opportunity to wear that dress much beyond the Holiday season .... so kind of a waste.  This year will be different!!!  Angie's post was so timely.  Below is a sampling of the pieces I am considering.   Let me start with the blazers.  I adore all three of these and can only rationalize one.   I'm going to the store on Saturday.  If they are in stock, I'll buy the one that fits the best.  The deciding factor will be sleeve length.  Based purely on product descriptions, I am leaning toward the metallic one.  It just screams Holidays to me.   On to the pants.  I am leaning towards the NYDJs because if I have a statement topper, I would prefer to have a quiet bottom.  Length again is always the deciding factor for me.  I would buy full length over ankle length every day of the week.   The top is not my normal silhouette, but it seems fun and certainly the color is breathtaking.  It would be perfect with the NYDJs.  Would it work with a topper?  Or is this a standalone top?  Perhaps a plain white or black crew neck sweater would suit be me best.   I love the Holiday season.  I love everything about it.
