Here's another scarf-tying tutorial, Deb.

Ay yi yi! How can you live without scarves?! Get thee to a shop and purchase some scarves as soon as possible! Scarves are such an easy way to add color and interest to any outfit.

I suggest the longer, rectangular shape to start with. I've always found the square shape difficult to work with...

I start with my outfits. I particularly like having scarves that will tie colours together, so many of my scarves are prints. A taupe jacket with a blue chambray blouse looks weird to me, for example. Until I add a scarf that has both those colours and then magic is made.

Alternately, I like to have a few solids on hand to go with prints.

Probably best to start with silk square scarves or longer rectangular ones. I find these are the ones I reach for the most often, because they are so versatile. Choose colours that are frequent in your wardrobe. Start looking at yourself in the mirror and asking "What kind/colour of scarf would go well with this?" When the same answer keeps popping up, that's what you have to look for. I have my eyes open now for a scarf that combines rust, black, and white, because that's a colour combo I'm in love with right now.

If you like Polkadots, a black and white dotty scarf might be a good place to start. Dots add fun to a neutral outfit and work so well when mixing patterns.
Target often has nice scarves for the price.

Like others have said, you can find them just about anywhere, in a slew of different fabrics and sizes, and at all price points. Just keep an eye peeled; you'll start seeing them everywhere. That said, Old Navy has had some wonderful scarves recently. I bought several there earlier this year and wore those to pieces. Gap sometimes has cute scarves; so does Asos. Museum shops often have beautiful scarves, and I've never been in any boutique that didn't have at least a small collection of scarves.

As you can probably tell, I love scarves—almost as much as I love gloves—and probably own (blush) about 100. But I do wear them, all the time. And I regularly recycle scarves, giving them to friends or consigning them when I'm ready for a change...and to buy another.

I have been trying to embrace scarves also. I buy them just because they are beautiful and I enjoy looking at them! I am working up to wearing them!

Here is a cute video on different ways to tie scarves

I like scarves but I often end up not wearing them indoors. For example, today I am wearing a silk scarf but I took it off at work and kept a necklace on instead.

My favorite scarves are from Loft, I also have found some nice thin scarves at Marshalls and TJMax and large square silk scarves at Express. You also have to figure out what fabrications and sizes wrk best for you. I don't like wool next to my neck so a lot of my scarves are synthetic but I prefer scarves with some weight or volume to them rather than super-thin polyester.

Here are some that look nice in the photos (have not seen them in person).

I found my first (non winter one that is) at Kmart of all places. Easy way to dress up a plain knit top for a few bucks But I wouldn't go overboard until you're sure you'll wear them. I have 2 and wear them rarely. I enjoy them when I do, but I don't need a whole wardrobe of them like some ladies have.

Due to budget constrains, scarves were one of the first things I tried after joining YLF. And I'm so glad I did- love my scarves. Once you start looking for them, they're everywhere! I found some beautiful on-sale at the LOFT, a few from the Gap... really, there are gorgeous scarves in almost any clothing store. For me, I found it helped to not go too bright for the first scarf outings. Gives you a chance to get comfortable with the look and not feel your wearing something yelling "look, she's wearing a scarf!".

After reading RunnerChick's scarf thread I think I need to get myself some scarves. I do not own any but maybe it is time to try something new. Any suggestions where I should start?
