Most folks who visit Europe think of London, Milan or Paris for their shopping excursions. But Heidelberg is truly a gem. Besides all the major stores, there are dozens of cool little boutiques and shops on the alleys off the main street. The restaurants and food shops are superb, and above it all is the spectacular castle! My favorite time to go is in early October when the weather is still mild and you can enjoy a lovely boat ride down the Neckar river.
