I am on Team Wear, so had kept everything in good shape. A No Buy for tailored pants meant wearing out half a dozen pairs of pants a season without replacing them, dropping the total in a meaningful way each year. I had No Buys on jackets, suits, shirts, silk blouses, tailored skirts, sheath dresses and pumps, so the numbers were dropping across the board. I freed up an entire standard closet rail and will likely free up another by the time I am done. When I like a thing but don’t know what to wear it with, that suggestion always seems to pop up, and then I don’t wear the thing. </p> <p>My high school didn’t allow jeans, and that didn’t bother me. They are often stiff, which I never like, but the one pair with spandex that I got as I was gaining weight didn’t last long either—had to hike them up way too often. </p> <p>Part of my issue with jeans might my preference for “lurking quirk”. Jeans pretty much announce themselves as plain Jane work animals or extra—it’s hard to find jeans that are simple at first glance, then have a cool detail when you look closer.
