And fruits are one thing, but it's even funnier (not for the purchaser, of course) when they reduce the size of a package and then label it, "The size kids like best!" or some other such nonsense. They're simply trying to reduce the amount of product they give you for the same price.</p> <p>Tangentially related: I remember when all the toilet paper rolls suddenly became about 1 cm to 1.25 cm shorter. Same brand, same price, same package, and one week they were the normal size and the next they were shorter. Except when cooking with them, as I find bigger ones easier. I imagine if kids only eat half the larger apple and then toss the rest, this is a good idea. For a while I could find "ugly" fruit at one of our grocery stores.
