Thanks Joy - this is a really good point. In fact I tried on some higher shaft converse imitation type boots recently - they looked great but they did rub and I didn't get them.
We definitely have Naturalizer here, and maybe the other 2 you mentioned - will check them all out.

If you do find some without higher heels, be sure that the higher shaft does not rub on your ankle or leg. They can feel comfortable just trying on, but walk rapidly in them before buying. I have had luck with a variety of brands that are not expensive, including Lucky, Naturalizer, and Born, if these are available in Australia.

Yes that's what I was finding - the higher shaft ones had the higher heels.

I'll check out Diana Ferrarri Lucy. I have found hers fairly comfortable before - thanks.

I'd seen some really nice boots at Diana Ferrari recently. But on a closer look, all the higher shaft ones have higher heels, and vice versa. Interesting, but not helpful for you!
I can attest to comfort though. I just went to Sydney for five days, taking two pairs of boots. The lining at the back of the flat ones broke inside, and were not very comfortable! So I wore the higher Diana Ferrari ones all day every day, and they were surprisingly really good. I think they are about 2.5cm.

Angie's posts reminded me to ask about higher shaft booties. It I am going to try cropped jeans, then I need to get the right footwear first, as suggested by YLF people. I have not however, found any higher shaft booties that are also
1) leather
2) not too high heeled - so no higher than 1 1/2 inches (à la Angie)

Since my budget only allows for one pair of booties at a time, I need them to be comfortable, durable and able to be worn as my main winter shoe - say 3 - 4 days a week.

Has anyone found any like this in Australia?
